Important Summer Reminder--Pets in Vehicles

I'm sitting on the couch, killing time on Camaro5 until I have to leave for work. I have the Toronto news on and I saw a very sad story. Within 24hrs, 2 dogs had to be rescued because they were left in cars in the heat. A 1yr old lab died after being rescued and a small dog was taken to the vets to be checked. The small dogs owner and her young daughter were upset so they cared about the dog, BUT WHY NOT LEAVE IT HOME???? Don't bring your pet with you if you are leaving the vehicle for any length of time. I have a sticky note on the front door reminding me to remember to make sure the central air is on before I leave for work. The last 8-9days I have only had it on once or twice, but it was really hot yesterday and today. I want our cats to be comfortable and me too. We hear about tragic senseless deaths each summer that could be prevented by just leaving the dogs at home. Not what I wanted to hear before going in for nights :(.
