fwiw - The 2006 Ford GT does not have the radiator screen that the 2005 Ford GT has. They said the change was for more air flow. I guess every little bit helps.

I'm talking about the Ford GT, not the Mustang GT. I have not heard any owners of the 2006 Ford GT complain about foreign objects striking the radiator.

I think the sample and use size of Ford GT compared to GT500 is a little low for reliable metrics.. but, maybe that's just me..

I enjoy friendly banter between camps, but not attacks.

I'm thankful we have the opportunity to brag about 600 hp cars of today and not the 200 hp cars of the mid 80s. iirc, the California Corvette of the very early 80s had a 305cid with 165hp.

There were roughly 2000 Ford GTs built each year for a total of around 4000. Average miles driven per car (exposure)? Your guess is as good as mine

Yeah.. It's that whole, how often, on what type of roads, thing that I'm curious about..

Though.. I can tell you the few I've seen on the interstates were traveling beyond the speed limit... Usually being chased by a lesser car that thought it was more car.

Don't know how often they would have had the random rock/debris to deal with.

Okay, so the point of the open grill is to get air. Do the vents on top let air out? There are already reports (true or not) of the ZL1 suffering heat soak. With a larger supercharger, is the '13 GT500 susceptible to heat soak as well?

I think that is the nature of any FI setup. Compressed air gets hot...

the intercoolers can only do so much.

I deal with a bit of "heat soak" as well,

I was sitting at the start line, 1/4 mile, at 93 degree IAT's, and finished the 1/4 at 193 degrees IAT.

True it's not "heat soak" per say, but dang the compressor heat is brutal... I'm going to vent my hood for heat/air removal so that I can try to get more air through the intercooler...

They have intercooler upgrades that will actually lower your IAT below ambient, you just have to look in the right places.

yeppers there are some cool ways to bring em down but on a production car I don't think they will ever get away from heat soak with FI.

But I didn't ever think we'd be able to build/buy cars with 500+ to the wheels for less than 60K either...

Turn the hood in to a Peltier Unit with the heat pipes welded directly on to the engine. Plug it in to the alternator... Boom.. A hood hot enough to bake a turkey in less time than it takes someone to mention ZL1 vs GT500.
