I saw a deeper blue GT500 with white stripes roll by my local library. Ridiculous to think how much faster and more agile the cars and tires have become in 10 years.
I would have never believed that you could get some of these statistics from cars from 45,000 to 80,000 10 years ago. Even 5 years really. I would love to hear what the road course comparison tests have yielded between the ZL1 and the 2013 GT500. I feel there is an uneasy media silence like we are in the eye of the hurricane, and the second divine wind is coming...............Erik

I like the front end of the GT500, but leaving the nose wide open like that, without a grille, might have problems. Is there any protection from foreign debris?

Ya opening is 3X as large at 03/04 Cobra. Looks cool but a bird strick at 80mph would be nasty to radiator and coolers.

The Terminators were open except for the horse. I'm sure the aftermarket will bring some nice grills for the 2013's.

What is the purpose of the open grill design?
It was stated in one of the GM released videos, that the grill on the ZL1 was designed for the purpose of directing air flow. Two totally different schools of thought ...

If the strike is going to be significant enough to puncture the radiator, a little plastic grill is going to offer about 0 protection to begin with.
The grills are aesthetic to begin with. |

A friend has a billet grill on his Camaro, and it wouldn't stop a decent sized bird... smaller ones would just be sliced up as it went through...

Funny, I saw o last night too. White with guardsman blue strips, road rash on the front end and pretty worn tires at that. Don't think he/she waited too long on the break-in to hit the track. I love the grill on this Shelby.

The Evo 2013 GT500 just did 9.95@142mph today. So we have a 13 GT500 in the 9's!

The purpose is so they can let in as much air as possible.. From what I've read/heard, the 5.8 generates a lot of heat.
