What should I do?

Ok I am retired and need to watch my expenses, so now I am dieing to get another convertible. So I now have 3 choices as I see it.
1. Keep my 2010 1LT and just forget a vert.
2. Trade it for a 2013 1LT vert and either borrow $12K or cash in part of my 401K.
3. Trade it plus $1500 and buy a 2001 Vette roadster with 70K miles.

What would you do?

As a side note wife is wanting a vert too, but she isn't particular to what kind it is, she even mentioned a Volkswagen Beetle...UGH

Well my thoughts:

If you have to cash in 401k funds to get it, I vote no.

If you can swing the loan, keep in mind the Camaro convertible is awesome and has a power top.

The C5 is a great car. Manual top though. And 70,000 should be ok, but that's starting to need some things IMO.

Can you get a C6 convertibel in between the two for price?

I can understand the convertible need. I am missing my Sky in a BIG way right now with the weather so nice.

But for your 3 choices, I'd have to see the C5 and drive it and make sure it was super solid. If it is, I might go that route only because I'm thinking of a C5/C6 convertible soon.

I was even thinking of the C5 and get the extended warranty. We miss our Sky too, but they are too small. The C5 is car fax certified and the carfax buy back guarantee is included.
Thanks for your input.

Boy that new 2013 1LT Vert would be hard for me to pass over for a used Vert, and borrowing 12,000 is not alot of money. Which ever you decide its a win-win. And NO to the Bug! LOL

Well Becky found one just what we wanted. The deal she worked up is better than what I thought. We have to wait until Monday to tie up some loose ends with the dealer that has the car.

On a side note I did a Kelly blue book value check on my 2010 1LT and then for S&Gs I checked on a 2010 Mustang equipped the same. They valued the Camaro $5,000 higher than the mustang.

Pontiac solstice turbo. Quick little suckers, and probably cheaper and in better condition then the vette.

I say do it. You will adjust, and can make it happen. You live once, and could be dead tomorrow. I have too many friend who have passed, that always said "not right now" and didn't live there dreams out. Sucks, but it made me change the way I planned and ran things in my life.

That is basically the reason for my signature line below the pictures of our Current Camaro.

Well just got off the phone with Becky, we will be heading up north next Monday to pick up our new Summit White Camaro Convertible. Great dealing with her. You can't go wrong.
