The CTS-V got a 3.9 will the rollout ...... 3.7 and 3.9 are pretty close

Again not saying the Shelby is not fast, but the Inside Line times (which are what the average joe would get) were not that great

Why is the CTS-V even being brought up? Pretty close doesn't mean a thing when it comes to racing.

When it comes to 0-60 times, 3.7 seconds is pretty quick, even if you have 660 horsepower. It all comes down to aerodynamics, how well the car launches and how good of a driver you have. If conditions are right, and you have a great driver, they could knock off .1-.3 seconds off any 0-60mph (for any car).

-On a side note: it's funny how we consider 4.0 seconds for 0-60mph "slow" these days. I remember when we considered 4.5 seconds just a few years ago quick. I remember when 6.5 seconds was considered decent lol. Mind you, I'm in my early 20's, so...

The VIR lap was outstanding, but done with GM's professional driver, not a Car and Driver lightning lap journalist.

Ring time was excellent.

I am sure more road courses are in the ZL1's future but I guess we have to wait for those. It would be nice to see Laguna Seca, Hockenheim, Willow Springs, Sachsenring, etc.

Agree with this. In willing to say overall the ZL1 now tops the Boss but I bet my Boss can take the ZL1 on some tracks too. And I don't have an LS.

These are pony/muscle cars and should be better at straight line acceleration over any other catagory.
I haven't run drags really much at all since I was a teen (when it was a weekly event). Give me power AND handling and corners.

I love both. But just like I never found time to cross country ski again once I discovered downhill if I have the time and money I'll run down corners rather than the guy in the lane beside me. Doesn't mean I don't miss nor respect drag racing, because I do.

Thanks to a comment someone made to me I've just noticed something. The Camaro owners who have stuck with this thread are simply car fans who love their Camaros (as they should) and they -- like the Ford fans here -- are excited to see real numbers and comparisons. The trash talkers who believed the ZL1 was the second coming left long ago when this thread was posted to the outback. My bet is those of us who remain would get along really well on a cruise night and enjoy checking each others cars out as much as sharing our enthusiam for our own.

Me too Fender... I check here to see if any new links have been posted. Really want to see a comparison. That is really all this is about to me. Two great cars.

I can feel it. Someone is running both these cars side to side right now at a real road course. We'll actually see reported road course times within a week, I know it! Erik

Ok just want to ask those that say you can mod the ZL1 to beat the GT500. Do you feel that the GT500 crowd cannot modify theirs to still beat you or do you feel the GT500 may already be "Maxed Out" and has no more potential?

I already have the numbers of what a pullied, cai, tune gt500 will do. It's held for a 5.0 Mag article. But I can tell you the car is not even close to "maxed" out

Thanks, the point I was trying to make to those that feel they can modify the ZL1 to beat the Shelby is you are getting into a never ending battle of whatever you can do I can beat it. And in those situations the only one that wins are the aftermarket speed equipment manufacturers. And all. You are left with are empty pockets.

100%.
That said, I challenge any shelby owner to longtube install race....
A close friend just ordered his 2013 Shelby a few weeks ago. I do a bunch of work for him on his other cars, so I've secured a ride and I can't wait!!!
