I understand the fuse pull and engine making a change for low octane fuel but where is this fuse to pull and how do I find it?

But really, I would assume that almost everyone here puts gas in their car with an ethanol additive since the "real stuff" is such a pain to find. But out here, we can't even get 93 WITH ethanol. We're stuck with 91 (with) for the most part.

Have you looked at this site ever?

There is a 92 over in Wausau. Don't know how accurate it is, but it might be worth a shot

There is a harbor here that fills pure gas, not that ethanol blend. It's used by people that own boats. But I'm sure if you bring gas canisters there, they will let you fill up.

They are all a scam.

If you want to boost the octane, buy some toluene.

A gas station near me got caught lying about their premium which turned out to be regular. Before they got caught I filled up my 98 F150 there and I remember stomping on the gas and it was detonation city! Now I only try to fill up with Shell V-Power at a reputable station where I know the owner personally and he owns a Shelby, Corvette, and used to own a Lightning so I doubt he's going to be monkeying with the gas.

I remember my friend filling up his 04 Chevy pickup at this other gas station and it started stalling at every stop! It wasn't until he ran the gas empty and re-filled at another station that it started running normally again!

Ironic that both of those stations with bad gas where run by camel jockeys!

1. It actually goes to the lower fuel table if it detects anything below 90. 91 is recommended per the manual (probably due to it accidently reading 89.9 and going to the lower table).

2. Totally right about the fuze pull. No matter if your car is brand new, a fuze pull is highly recommended. You never know what funky things could be going on with the car you may not be aware of.

Uh no, it is not, 93 octane is not sold in California and Arizona to start.

the octane rating has to do with altitude as well. higher altitudes have lower octane fuel available because something that has to do with the air density and pressure affects the way the fuel wurns. in many high altitude places regular gas is 85 octane and the premium is only 89, but the way they burn, the car will recognize it as a higher octane. i saw a discussion about all this on the chevy cruze forums. the 1.4L turbo engine requires premium and one of the members was talking about the whole octane vs altitude thing.
