Because it's an aluminum block without iron liners. Heat would be bad for a maxed out bored block. Ford is using a different type of liner in their blocks. LS engines use iron cylinder liners that can be bored out and replace with thicker liners, so an engine builder can bore it more than the factory specs. Oil squirters are used to help cool the liners because of the heat generated from thinner walls. It's all very technical...trying to put it in layman's terms.

Why is anybody eating crow? Both cars are badass. In due time there will be a true comparison. Both cars have strengths and weaknesses. Have there been a lot of Camaro owners over on Mustang forums smack talking? I think a lot of the discussion in thisvthread has been good but there is also a lot of garbage.

The recording from the front camera of the ZL1 sounds more like a accelerating jet plane with the S/C whine.
And the presenter guy as right, and I add one more thing:

Truth is that Ford did not wake up since the pony car race started in the 60's, and Ford still focuses on making the Mustang run faster and faster, while the Camaro does both track and straight line equally good. Best way to compare it is to put the new 2013 Shelby Mustang on the Nurburgring track, and compare it with the ZL1 time. That is where the ultimate difference matters, and that's where the Camaro has the overall win.
