So we are first timers going to Vegas. Any tips or suggestions?
Me and my wife are finally taking the plunge by going to Vegas at the end of July. I did my homework on pricing and my best deal I could find is roughly costing us $1300. This includes hotel (five days, four nights at Bally's), non-stop flights from Orlando and car rental.
I told my wife my "must do" is to go see Hoover Dam. but I also want to plan other things and I'm hoping I can get some good suggestions from anyone here who's either been to Vegas or already lives there. tips or suggestions?

Since you're at Ballys... it connects with The Paris and Anthony Cools is a hillarious show to see. There's also a nice Piano bar along the way that's good for drinks...
Don't stay in one spot... take a ride downtown to check out the lights and move around to some other casinos... |

Check out some reviews for Cirque du soleil. They are some really good shows. Blue man group is also a great show. You can have a midevil diner/show experience at excalibur. and i agree with mlee, walking around will take up some time. Lol there are some great looking casinos and some cool shops to check out. like the forum shops at Caesars and venetian.
Not sure if you guys are into the club scene.

Definitely grab tickets for some shows of your choice... Ticket prices are normally better at the box office... if sales aren't good they drop them big time where as on-line is full price.
Any show you go to you will be entertained... it doesn't have to be the high dollar ones. |

For the romantic evening... at dusk go to the Venetian and take a boat ride with wifey. Then dinner, show or walk the strip and see the free shows in front of Mirage, Treasure Island and the Bellagio! Going in July be prepared for 125 + temps. Sleep during the day and live it up at night.

Prostitution is illegal within the city limits. You have to go to Pahrump, Nevada to be safe!

Since you are staying at Bally's, which is a Harrah's property. You need to do a few things as a first timer.....You need to go the the TOTAL REWARDS counter....and get palyers card, its free. when playing slots, you insert your card in the machine, or give your card to the dealer at any table game. This tracks you playing and will amass player point, which are redeamable for may things, such as FOOD! lol Their players cards are connected to EVERY Harrah's property in the world. We get offers for freebees all the time. For an example, when I go to CFest in August, I will be staying at three hotels, other than the host hotel, and they are all Harrah's properties/casino's and I will be staying free.....and I have enough points amassed that all my food is free too.
As far as you trip goes and things to do. 3 casinos down from your hotel is the Imperial Palace...its on the same side of the street as well, and they have a huge Automobile Museum there. if nmothing else....if you go here.....you can see everything going on at any of the Harrah's properties....all the shows, everything. http://www.caesars.com/total/las-vegas/
