Can we get back to the paint? If you want to talk about mustangs, then how is the paint on the mustangs and how well does it hold up compared to the camaro?

I'm very happy with the quality of my paint, and it's been quite durable from a nose-getting-chips point of view. I have only two TINY (like I need my glasses to see them) speck/chips on the front of my car after 15K miles. No irregularities to report elsewhere. 2011 GT500.

I have no experience with Camaro paint. My '06 GTO was pretty chip-prone on the nose, but that got squirted in Australia...

I'm in the business too dude.. We just have different opinions. I never said factory paint didn't have peel and issues, I'm just looking further down the road.

lol you must be new. Syntax.

Anyway, a 30K+ car produced in 2010 should not have most of these issues out of the factory. But obviously they do. Like I said before, its embarrassing for many manufacturers. But passable for them. 95% people/customers don't even know what they are looking at

Anyone know if one of the premium paint options that costs an additional $325 is any more durable?

For what it's worth, the paint quality is my biggest complaint on my car. For the nay-sayers that poo-poo that fact, I have more chips and paint issues on my less-than-2k mile Camaro than I did with my 2011 Mazda daily driver when I traded it @ 17k miles. 17k miles of summer/winter/everyday driving and it looks better than my Camaro. Guess what? Mazda uses water-based paint too, but it's applied thicker.

Chevy really cheaped-out on their paint.
That's why I traded it, it would just piss me off every time I would wash the car and think what it may look like in another year ? Ok my review almost a week in the car, this mustang is way lighter then the Camaro and fast a lot faster I think. It took me a bit to get use to the interior of the Mustang because to me it has a lot of more strait lines inside and your sitting more above the dash vs the Camaro your sitting vary low into the car. The seats in the Camaro do hold you well vs the Mustang you move around the seat a bit more and last the Stereo in the Camaro 2SS i think is better then the Shaker 500. I also went with the Premium 401A pkg with the ambient lighting and a upgraded leather seat then the standard leather and last it's so much easier to park this thing on the streets with out having to tilt my mirrors down so I dont curb scrape the wheels and a whole lot less blind spots. Do I have any regrets no but I'll Still be lurking around here because you know what there all great cars in different ways.

I was discussing my car last night with my father who I showed the chipping paint to and his reply was to sale it as fast as I could because he knows I'll fixate on the stone chips and never be happy with the car. I'm considering it. 1540 miles, and jaded by Chevy to the point of considering taking a few thousand dollar hit and running for a Boss or GT500.

I have a few on my 2010, yet you'll have a few on any vehicle unless you simply don't drive.

The 03 Terminator in the garage beside the camaro has 22,000 miles on it... And might have 2 stone chips. We can go over the list of my 8 vehicles with minimal to no stone chips again, but to some of you it will not matter... You'll keep making excuses for the shoddy quality that GM gave you and you'll claim it's the same across the board for all brands. Yet, the 2011 Lexus with 4,800 miles has not a single mark, the 2011 Malibu has 33,000 miles and there are 4-5 chips.... Blah...blah...blah...

I traded for a 2012 model for the savings I made, the 13's are nice but I have no second thoughts about it. My first mod was a exhaust the second day I had it and next week or so ill have the GT500 rear spoiler on it then ill take some pics.

I guess it depends on how much you would loose on the trade. It would piss me off as well, but if I take a few thousand dollar hit on the trade it that should cover a better paint job. If the paint is the only thing you don't like and you will take a couple grand hit why not repaint it? If you like the mustang better for more than the paint, then trade it.

Nobody likes losing money, but sometimes if you have or make enough money... Your willing to lose an acceptable amount to rid yourself of the issue that gets your goat. I'm very lucky to have a great job in a time of bad economy. That said, I'm on the fence here, I still want to love the car.
