Taurus SHO has been out for 3 years. Nothing new.

The engine is actually capable of much more power (see EcoBoost F-150), but apparently, the Taurus transmission is not, so it had to be significantly de-tuned.

Problem with the Taurus SHO is that it costs much more than the Charger R/T, which has more power and is RWD based. In other words, the SHO is nice, but there are still better alternatives for less money.

Your car would have been down no more than 50 hp. I'm not too familiar with the LLT or LFX, but I can't think that it would have been that big of an undertaking to get up to 360 hp.

Anyways GM is working on a turbo6, but if you are making a full size performance sedan ... why even bother with a low output turbo6 in the first place? I say low output because for a direct injected DOHC twin turbo V6 with variable valve timing ... a little over 100 hp/L is low. I mean, the LFX is at 90 hp/L and its naturally aspirated. Don't get the wrong impression of me ... I don't care much about hp/L as a yardstick for an engine. But if the name of your car is the Taurus 'Super High Output' ... the engine should, well, have a super high output.

Overall, I've never been impressed by the new SHO. Give me a Dodge Charger Super Bee instead

I'd absolutely love an SHO as a daily driver, or primary for my wife, bit as mentioned already they are way too damn 'spensive!

So, she putters around in a Malipoo. Nice enough car, I couldn't even get her to consider a Fusion. Damn women.

The video makes it look like the car is rear wheel drive when it's not.

If you drive a front-wheel drive car like that you will need new front CV joints in 30 days.

Your comparing apples to oranges with that statement.

That V6 is a Twin Turbo application, whereas your car is naturally aspirated. Also, with enough bolt on mods and a tune, you can get the LLT/LFX within 10 to 20 horse of that without too much trouble (just costs money!), and it can do much more with internal work (porting heads, cams). Its the Torque that is harder for the N/A V6 to match and will always be low on compared to a turbo'd V6.

Speaking of turbo'd V6, every application of supercharged, or turbo'd V6 Camaro on the forum is making 450+ horsepower, and thats with only around 5 or 6 psi of boost. So that said...GM has no need to step up their V6 game. They only need to introduce a boosted V6 if they want to have a similar engine to offer as Ford.

Also, that ecoboost Ford engine can do much much more than 360 horse once the boost is adjusted.

That car isn't FWD either, the SHO's are AWD

I call BS if that's 450WHP. Is it?

The GT500 makes about 470-490WHP with 7lbs of boost and that's a 5.4L engine.

I'm betting he meant crank.

And you have to remember that the CR is between 11 and 11.5 to one on those V6s, compared to I think 8.5 to 9 on the GT500. So each pound of boost will be far more efficient in making power on those little engines.

However ... the math just doesn't work out for making 450 hp on 5 or 6 psi with these engines. 400? Sure, I could accept that as a common. But 450? Maybe a well put together engine could do that on 6 psi, but it would likely be the exception rather than the rule. But no LLT is going to be making 450 @ 5 psi -let alone all of them.

2011 SHO here

I've got the 2011 SHO and it's an awesome car. Sticker was 47 and change and I got it for 43500. Has a hell of a lot of creature comforts, some of which are found on higher end cars. Heated and A/C seats with massage. Rear window powered sun shade and BLISS. I love the car but we will probably sell or trade it early next year because mama wants one of the new Explorers.

KMP is talking about crank HP so it is comparable to the 360 number given for the SHO. I think 400-425 RWHP is certainly possible on a LLT running 5-6 psi (always depends on the CFM that accompanies that boost). The trick seems to be in the valvle overlap. Right now, the guys running stock heads and intake manifold are getting about 425+ RWHP with 8-9 psi I believe, but they are having to pump 100% meth in to do that. We now have a new high-pressure fuel pump that should allow us to start pushing those numbers up more safely. We also have some cams coming and hopefully ported heads by the end of the summer (I'm the only one with ported heads right now). We shall see I guess.

Love my EcoBoost Flex! It's built on the same platform as the Taurus SHO, with the same exact power train. Here's my dyno sheet:

BLUE = STOCK
RED = Livernois Tune
GREEN = Livernois Tune plus methanol

BEST ET to date is 12.95 @ 108 MPH. We also tweaked the tune a bit, so should be a bit faster now... just waiting for some cooler weather! LOL

BTW... love that whole series of Taurus SHO commercials!!!

do people really run methanol on the street in a daily driver? kinda figured that was a track only deal.
