This comparaison is over.
How about you go back to your SVTperformance site and get the hell out of here if all you want to do is troll.

Look, I think the new GT500 is amazing as well, and when the ZL1 was first announced I was convinced it would put the 2012 GT500 in its place even on the 1/4 mile (I was wrong) but I didn't go around joining other sites just to piss on them and make myself feel better like you.

Are you 'DeviousStang' from the SVT forum???....(who posted a big fat "F*** You Camaro5" earlier today when he read some performance numbers) Not all are bad, but a LOT of them are happier that they are able to bash Camaro5 than they are about the numbers this car put down. A couple of them read these pages almost religiously looking for stuff to quote on THEIR website...its ridiculous. I hope this makes it there lol.

Its really quite sad that you have to go to the lengths you do...pretty damn childish.

Again...I'm not jealous because I don't own a mustang....I'm responding because you are being a tool.

Have a good day.

I still prefer the Boss over all of them...just cause I'm a N/A kind of guy (and have had both turbo and blown cars). Of course, I'd take a Z06 over ANY new American car (including the ZR1 and my own LS3 Vette).

Just idle thoughts....please carry on with your bickering.

If that is your attitude then why even join this forum? And Evan Smith is far from a regular magazine driver.

The GT500's in Atlanta were consistently beating those times at +2000 density, basically "hot lapped", with "regular drivers", using launch control, and finishing the 1/4 @ 120-121 mph.
I think a MUCH better visual comparison is:

I love the new ZL1 and what GM did with the car. But to compare a ZL1 with a new Shelby....which is what this thread is all about is stupid. A new GT500 will murder a ZL1. Some of you guys in this thread need to just accept that it will be faster in the 1/4 mile.

There is more to cars then just 1/4 mile. I think everyone already knew that the Shelby will be faster in the 1/4 with the same drivers. However, the cars are still close enough that the person behind the wheel will still make a lot of difference.

That really applies to any car though. I could beat a new shelby in my freaking truck if he doesnt know how to drive and blows the tires off....I just dont call .5 a close race in a 1/4 mile

Since I will still plan on getting a 2013 ZL1, I really hope this gives GM a little incentive to add just a little bit more oomph to the 2013s.

I think it will come down to how the press handle the comparisons, and if the Shelby can take the ZL1 out on a road course. If it looks nasty in the reviews or in videos I think Chevy will bump up the power and respond. If it does not get any worse than it was today, Chevy will take being slower (in the 1/4) and be happy with the fact they sell more V6 cars.

I agree, It will depend on if it gets murdered or not in all aspects of performance. If its real close I think GM will waint till 2014. If not they might rush a new powerplant to the 2013 which is a bad thing. You never want a first year rushed product.

I just watched the vids showing 11.81@123 with a heat soaked car on goodyears. 4000rpm launch, foot to the floor, 2 powershifts. It looked so easy a 16 year old could do it.

If this link doesn't work,
YouTube search "2013 gt500 smith"

Check out this video on YouTube:
