Also chomping at the bit to see what I can get out of my '13 GT500. It's been fun since I got it Wednesday, but there's only so much you can do with it on public roadways (not that I haven't tried).
You have my dream garage. A GN, a '71 Cuda AND a '13 GT500?! That is a hell of a lot of awesome, sir!

this is all funny to me.

pretty much all as it should be couple tenths faster because it has 80more hp. the ZL1 will need a pulley and tune to hang. if you really cost it all out a GT500 with PP and TP is more money than a ZL1 with pulley and tune. that is how I always look at it. total cost. one could argure that you could do that to the shelby but a 61.5k I would be blowing people on the corner just to affor the car.

does not really sound like a world beater though. going to struggle to get around a Z06. has a back seat though and runs 11's that's nice a package.

be interesting to see how it handels not that it cleary is not putting down the power as magically as some people thought it would.

If you thought 10.xx on 285 Goodyears was possible, then to be honest you don't know much about drag racing, or physics.

Not to say later on, its not possible to hit the 11.5 but I think that will be tops. The hero run for the Shelby 11.5 the hero run for the ZL1 11.7 or 11.8 my guess.
Or maybe the hero run for the Shelby will be 11.5, and the hero run for the ZL1 will be 12.0? Who knows?

I'd say you have to figure in the cost of completely eliminating your powertrain warranty in there somewhere. If you blow a motor, that cost is, what, about 15 grand?

Don't need PP and TP on the Shelby show a ZL-1 your tail lights at the track or a roll race.

Ya, everything can be nitpicked lol. Example!

ZL-1 is 20% less fuel efficient too (hwy) so you gotta fill your tank more often.

Both are great cars but this is very appreciable as now american cars have disproven the notion of being non world class caliber competitors.

Road atlanta is a balance meets power track. I love it on Forza. That all said it does require a surprising amount of suspension and braking because it corks hard after each exaggerated straight into s curves and 90 degree bends.

All told, the gt500 must handle and stop very well because it's not simply a speed course. Check out this photo of the track for an idea.

Even the straight sections become very dangerous because of high speed kinks and sweepers as well as 70-90 degree turns there after.

If the gt500 is lapping as fast or faster than a zl1 at this track, this car is very capable. Hats off to chevy and ford for amazing accomplishments as these 38-4100# cars are truly world beaters.

The gt500 with crap magazine drivers does 11.8 at 123 CONSISTENTLY. Which was basically what the zl1 does on DRs. With more time this car will be doing mid to low 11s on stock tires and low 11s to high 10s on DRs. Its more fuel efficient, weighs less, goes 200 mph stock, and people can actually see out of it.

Gt500 1 camaro 0

This comparaison is over.
