Crappy vid, but more will come.

My brother is there now...he just went for a ride with an engineer and said they are trapping 122 to 125 all day long with launch control.

125-mph = 11:20s or so with tires

A mustang guy (non media) was let into the media day for the Shelby at Road Atlanta. He said they were just at the Ring for testing NO numbers. He also said no numbers would come out of the media day, and there was no ZL1 there

I'll tell you what I don't know how F-body Father and Team Camaro puts up with us? We demand soooo much more from Chevy than the Mustang guys do from Ford. They can't track the Shelby online, they don't have any test numbers, and Ford is kinda like hey you get what you get when you get it.

Would it heat soak enough to cause the ZL1 to fall behind the Boss? Eventually maybe, but I doubt it. It would have to be out there for a long, and I mean a LONG, time for the ZL1 to lose the lead it would build up over the course of the session and then have the Boss get ahead. Too many variables at that point. Also, I believe that MT addressed the HP advantage issue and only came up with a half second difference in the straightaways. The ZL1's big advantage was the amount of speed the car was able to carry trough the turns, and the fact it was able to brake much later, most likely due to the much larger contact patch.

Brakes are the same on the GT500 and the Boss. They both use the 4 piston front Brembo 14" brakes with the 11.8" rear floating calipers. Here is the quote from the article reference the power deficit. The GT500 would still carry the same, if not a bit less speed trough the turns, since it's got a bit more weight in the front, and it's not running the R comp tires the 302LS runs.

On the road course, the Camaro was 2.4 seconds a lap quicker and almost 10 mph faster at the end of the back straight. Roughly 4 of those mph were courtesy of higher cornering speed carried out of the previous turn. Even without the big power difference on the straight, the Camaro would have been constantly making ground on the Mustang with mid-corner speed. The Camaro can simply generate more cornering force and corner faster, thanks in part to front tires that are as wide as the Mustang's rears and rear tires that are 20 millimeters wider still. Coupled with a stiffer body and more compliant suspension, the Camaro is a more capable car around the track.

Doesnt the 13 GT500 use a new larger 6 piston caliper brake system and I am also pretty sure the Boss uses the GTs front brembos and rear non brembos, but with a special "race compund" pad. Also, what I was referring too was not the actual article written a Motor trend guy who was not even on the track, but RPs comments in the magazine were a little different.

Good deal.
I guess we will just have to wait and see how many '13 GT500's go high 10's stock (on drag radials) in the next 60-90 days. I suspect we are going to see low -mid 11's at 125 MPH for the new car, which is significantly faster than the ZL1.... and appraoching/entering C6 Z06 territory.

I can't wait to throw down with one at the track.

There are numbers being leaked from the road Atlanta event. They are better than the ZL1, but that shouldn't be a surprise to any non koolaid drinker.
