Lol put an LS motor in there...
Is there any street application where the ls?'s aren't suited for?

I should note I plan on putting an LS1 in my 79.

Nope. Do one better an put a new 5.0 in it. I despise mixing brands with swaps.

Maybe Non-PI(94-98) SN95s, but a well driven New Edge should beat your car, especially if it's modded.

They really aren't that slow. 99-04 GTs can run a 14 flat, so they should easily be in the low 13s modded. Plus, they sound fantastic.

The slugs were the 94-98 models. They mostly run high 14s, low 15s stock.
My firends 01 ran 13.9@102 i think with just a K&N cold air. Everyone has to remember these cars were only around 3200 pounds so it takes MUCH LESS power to get them moving well than a new Camaro.

Agreed 100%, I can't stand mixing powertrains EXCEPT like a Nissan 240 or RX7 with an LS swap, and that is only OK because their respective manufacturers lack decent V8s for those swaps

Srsly tho the new 5.0 would cost a FORTUNE.

You could build a KILLER LSx motor for about $5k. Buy yourself an LQ9 from a scrap yard for about $1200, cam only, ls6 intake, LTs... drop it in.. you'll have a mustang that's actually powerful then.

with the reduced weight the mustang has it'd be pretty quick too.

Yeah, those 2-valves have a great sound to them. My cousin had an 02 with a blower, 4.10s, and a few other mods. I saw it run a 12.2 at a crappy track.

Lol.

I't is a shame that your wimpy LS1 just doesn't hold a candle. You should consider trading up to a car with more balls. Of course that is if you are old enough to drive.

....and you have a car that won't pass emissions/inspection, no A/C, etc.... Pretty worthless as a street car.

6K you can have a 5.0 crate motor with 0 miles on it. I am sure now that after 2 years of being on the streets, there are a few used examples to be had for less. The upside is you are starting with 375RWHP and it only goes up from there. ALOT more potential with the 5.0.

you're so right. 5.0's are very lame.
