Sounds reasonable - at least stock to stock. A 392 would have a harder time against a Boss, though still might have a slight edge.

If we were to move to bolt-ons, there is one 5.0 in the high tens, another that ran 11.00, and more in the low 11's. SS's are quite a ways from that. What do 'bolt-on' Challengers run?
No doubt the 5.0 has the edge once modding starts imo. I believe the quickest et for a bolt on UNTUNED 392 is 11.9.

I wanna say it had cai,cat back, stall, bigs and littles, and maybe long tubes. If there was a way to really tune these things I could see a full bolt, full weight, tuned 392 near mid 11's all day long. Pretty impressive for there weight.

Actually id give the Boss the edge over a 392. About the same edge the 392 has over the LS3. Gotta figure the Boss is 444hp only 26hp less but weighs about 600lbs less. Thats huge.

Id say a 392 is a 112mph car on average where as the Boss is around a 115mph car id say give or take.

The Charger Super Bee is the stripped down version of the SRT8 that removes useless options such as the large touch screen stereo and it is actually slightly quicker than the SRT8.

Too bad you can't tune the 392's. I like both cars. Had 3 SRT8's (Challenger,Charger, and Jeep). They were all great cars.

Please tell us what mods you have done and how much money they have cost you including parts, installation, and tune to run quicker. Did you do it on stock tires and wheels, if not add that into the price as well. I'm not saying it doesn't happen I am just curious what your recipe was.

Oddly if you look at magazine testing like motortrend it's always 1. Mustang. 2. Camaro 3. Challenger. I would think the 392 should run faster, but I haven't seen a magazine do it. I have seen one get a camaro into the 12's. (12.9), but never a Challenger. Anyone have a link to that happening?

Who are all these 12.1 "skilled driver?"

Please post the 392, 1/4 mile list with all the (bone stock) 12.1s on it.

The last time I checked there were only a few guys that had run faster than 12.5 (bone stock) and only a few that had run 12.5.

Cross referencing Minkmans criteria with the challengertalk fast list, and magazine times, there are:

0 skilled shifters.
4 that qualify as "regular drivers"
and 19 that don't make the "regular driver" cut, including Motortrend, Car and Driver, Road and Track, and InsideLine.

If you want your answer just jump on over to challengertalk. There are several that has ran sub .50's stock.

We already have the answer. The guy saying good drivers get 12.1, and average drivers get 12.5, doesn't know what he's talking about.
