Seriously though... linking one wiki article (and I doubt anybody will argue the possible inaccuracies that riddle wiki), does not qualify as "a little research goes a long way" The point is, that there are lots of theories... all of which have conflicting research results. All of which also using... scientific theory! So... I can find research that supports my original post. Which, by the way, I said "Of course, there is no hard proof behind it, but it is an interesting theory".

I'm not trying to incite an arguement or anything, but before you try to link one thing and wave the , you might want to follow your own advice to a little research goes a long way, and see if maybe there is a reason I'm saying the things I'm saying. You sound like a college student, or recent grad. Valid, research backs me up. Conflicting, sure... but most theories have something that conflicts them.

I'm just pointing out that mass extinctions have not, in fact, occurred on a regular time table. So which link exactly supported your belief? Nemesis, a hypothetical star? Not scientifically proven.

And I already showed that mass extinctions have not occurred every 30 million years, nor any other regular interval that I can see. So... where exactly is this regular interval stuff coming from?

The article you linked had a table with mass extinction events, true. And if you look at the reference it states "Partial list from Image:Extinction Intensity.png"Partial is not everything. Added to that the chart, when you look at the list, says specifically...

" Note that these data do not represent all genera that have ever lived, but rather only a selection of marine genera whose qualities are such that they are easily preserved as fossils."

Ok, so add in the lesser extinction events as well, there's no pattern there either. And the part of the article you quoted:

Basically this is saying these "other authors" aren't seeing any pattern either. Anyway, like every one else has said, nothing's going to happen this year. Let's all just sit back and laugh when December 22nd rolls around

No, I think their research justifies what they think as well. All I'm saying, is that in their own chart, they say it's ONLY for marine life

There has been a second sun scare many times before, and yes, two suns have appeared. Scientists have said that it's just a reflection of the Earth's atmosphere and the sun, making it seem like twin suns.

I guess we'll just have to see what happens. But just in case, I'm gonna make December 20th and 21st, 2012, the best days of my life so far. Then when I wake up on December 23rd, I'll be able to look back and how much everyone stressed about it.

The 21st isn't suppose to be "The End", it's suppose to be "The Beginning" of the end. Something somewhere is suppose to happen that starts the chain of events that will cause the extinction of man kind. Personally I don't think we will witness anything this catastrophic in our life time.
