GM also is going to be importing lot of cars from China soon.
Just make Wal Mart the dealers... There is Florida GMC dealer on the radio right now on Glenn Becks show saying there is no communications at all with GM at the moment. They are waiting to see if they get the FedEx letters that went out this morning. |

governments have no interest in making profits ...
Quote:
I've got news for you. The government is spending TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS and a few billion here or there for GM is literally peanuts. The government is no more interested in making a profit with GM than they are with the post office. Remember ... these people print money when they run out. They could have loaned money with some strings attached like they did with Chrysler 25 years ago. Instead they're working hard to take stock and ownership. Obama is giving the unions control of these companies. I don't think GM will die ... but the days of building cars that consumers want is going to be over. The future will be cars that the government thinks we SHOULD buy. To me that's a BIG difference. I'll take delivery of my SS and then run for the hills .... |

It' s NOT a loan
Quote:
There's a difference between lending and buying. He's using our money to BUY these companies. He's getting controlling stock. GM is selling itself to the government and the unions ... on terms dictated by Obama. The last plan I saw in the papers was that 55% of the company was going to be union owned ... another 35% the gov and the rest a tiny proportion of private. Some future republican admin might decide to sell it's stake but the controlling interest is with the Unions and they will NEVER have an incentive to sell nor can they be forced. Now when they negotiate their next contract they will be negotiating with themselves. I think they will get a good deal

But .... I can't imagine that union/gov management is going to keep from screwing that up. Nor that they will be allowed to continue producing 500 hp cars .... |

You're all so paranoid it's almost funny. But you're all seriously buying into this garbage, which makes it scary....

![]() There's a phone somewhere next to you all...use it and call your representatives. Tell them you love this...or tell them it's BS and you want it stopped, NOW. If you don't contact them....then how can you complain?! That's like not providing input to the waiter, and then complaining when he gives you the wrong dish... There was an article out this morning (I'll see if I can find it), that stated they were rethinking that decision, leaning heavily in the "whoops, we won't do that" direction. I for one, don't like the idea of high-pricetag imports (mainly cars) -- but I can certainly understand the idea behind it...GM has an impressive presence in China (thanks to Wagoner, btw)...why not utilize some of the facilities there? They make a mean Buick.

That's inaccurate it represents half of us not all especially now with no checks and balances being that one party is in charge

How can you say no checks and balances. They were voted in by the people who wanted them in there. That is the system. It may be flawed but we, the people who voted for them, made it this way. This is what the majority of the people wanted, well they got it. The system has not changed. They do represent America once again that is what the majority wanted and they got it.

checks and balances isn't between parties, it is silly to think that. it's between government entities. (executive, judicial, legislative) I don't know why people ever get this mixed up.

Incorrect my friend to represent America you would have to have some semblence to what the founding founders invisioned and last time I check Carl Marx wasn't one of them

Party bickering and one "standing defiantly" in the way of the other was NOT part of the founding father's plan. In fact, they wanted NO parties. The Three branches are the core of the checks and balances system. (and to a lesser extent, the media -- the fourth unoffical branch exposes corruption and untruths in the other three.)Quote:
Again, it takes some humility to realize that we are but a PART of the country as a whole, and we're not "right", we simply live by different priorities.Quote:
The founding father's laid the groundwork for change in gov't; evolution. They were wise enough to know that one-size doesn't fit all. And I don't think they had AIG, Freddie Mac back then...for the final time, because I cannot stress this enough -- The current gov't was elected as per the rules and regulations set forth by the founding fathers and preserved for the past ~240 years. That is as close as you can come, bud. If you don't agree with the current philosophy, then you are in the minority. The election was a relative land-slide, and approval ratings are sky high. Being in the minority is not a bad thing, you're not in the wrong...But you're not "right" either. |
