i had a dent very similar to this one on my v6. never did get it fixed because i traded it in. lol but the guy told me it would be more difficult because not only is the outside dented, but the inside is as well.

Sometimes they have to drill into the door to work it from the outside. Sometimes.... Just don't want to scare the OP away front trying lol. But you are right, It will be harder to fix.

But then before I leave with my car, he asks me to call him from the body shop with the estimate, because if it’s “exuberant” he wants to go through his insurance.

Now, the ding is small but it is right on the edge of the door, and the seam is bent. Looking online, it seems this is the hardest type of dent to fix. My worry is that if I go through his insurance, the repair will appear on my carfax! My question is, is there a risk of a carfax hit? And if so, shouldn’t I go to the shop owner and demand that he pay me cash for the repair since one of his workers (shop manager actually) was responsible and it happened in the shop?
Wait a friggin second, what exactly did this clown mean he didn't want to say sorry for dingin your car,WTF

The shop he works for should cover this on their insurance.

Ummm...Corvette with a door ding? PICS or it didn't happen.

Sorry about your door OP. This is why I don't want people touching my car.

That look more of a dent then a ding.

I swear I would have beat that mechanic silly!

I wondered about that too.

Good luck OP, I'd find a PDR guy and get an estimate quick. If he can even do it!

My dealership did the same thing, putting my car on the alignment machine they scraped the whole bottom of the front bumper. Luckly I was there and watched them do it. Brought out the shop manager and the dealership payed for it to be fixed. No insurance. If I was not there they probably would have never said a word.

Why would you not report it to the shop supervisor and get some kind of resolution before ever leaving, or even moving the car?
If that happened to me there would be a real problem.

Honestly I'd never let anyone drive my vehicle and if they did I would have to be present for the ride at all times.

I watched a G.I. in my town get his tires balanced, the tech at discount tire backed out the soldier's SRT-4 at a rediculous speed and ended up ramming it into someone's brand spanking new truck.

F that S, no one touches my:
1. woman
2. car
3. last beer
