It did? Care to point us to the link showing where they head-to-head? Oh, you mean, the press statement stating that the 1LE is capable of a sub 3-second time at VIR versus the Boss LS time recorded by a magazine the was .3 of a second of also being a sub-3 second car in factory form. They've yet to go head-to-head on the same day, on the same track. Got it.

American muscle FTW!
I think America began it's decline when we started giving a crap what the Europeans and Japanese thought of us. Just sayin'.

Agree, a lot of countries think Americans lost the morals and values. I see it now to. Ever since I got out of the marine corp I see so many disrespectful people it's unreal how people do each other.

Actually I think you mean Americans, who think they have the pulse of the Europeans, are making fun of American pony cars. American muscle cars, modern and classic, have quite a following here in Germany, you might be surprised. Most American pony cars (or most American cars in general) aren't available here in Germany unless imported anyway. So most Europeans can't even compare the two kinds of cars to even really have much of an opinion, much less complain. Why would the complain about something they can't readily buy, rarely see on the roads, and is otherwise irrelevant to their needs and desires? Unless we are talking about Germans who have the money to import such a car, and modify it to meet German standards, then you will find there are plenty of Germans who are willing to spend way too much money to have an American pony car, despite allegedly complaining about American cars the entire time.

Americans, on the other hand, are the ones who want to compare the interior of a loaded $60k Audi to a $35k Camaro or Mustang, and act like it means something.

Again I tend to think a few snobby Americans that have a stereotyped images of European cars are the ones bitching. Have you seen the interior of a Renault Twingo, new VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, or even a new BMW 316d with cloth interior? Lots of non-luxury interiors in the cars over here too.

If we are going to paint in broad brush strokes, then I will say that it isn't America that is in decline, it is just that others are starting to catch up in a real and noticeable way. By comparison makes us feel "weaker".

True, and again, my take is that most people here are actually referring to other Americans that are bitching about American cars. And no I don't think watching Jeremy Clarkson complain about American cars on BBCs Top Gear counts as a unified Euro opinion of American cars.

as i said, my original post was to reply to the guy that thought that ford didn't produce the shelby themselves. i was in a kind of sarcastic mood when i put it up there, so i tossed out a question to him, concerning something sort of related but not really. :seesaw:
He is talking about balance, and there is no reason to "defend" Ford as it were. It is fine to point out factual errors when someone makes them, as with your Shelby example, no one will ban you for that and I'm sure for most it is actually welcomed. To me, however, that isn't actually "defending" Ford.

Once you take up some imaginary banner to crusade for your favorite car, and when all your posts are dedicated to "defending" said favorite car, and that is your only/main purpose for even posting here, then you run the risk of being banned especially if you become disrespectful. It is great if you are willing to call Ford out when appropriate, but the mods are used to hearing such statements, and then watching as people seek to defend Fords mistakes/issues at all costs too.

Not to pick on you or read too much into your statement, just saying that there are a lot of other people who have come to Camaro5 with the purpose of "setting the record straight" with mixed results. From what I've seen it comes down to overall attitude, and if your contributions amount to more than a PR campaign for your favorite car. YMMV

yea, they/we do.

i like bmw's. but i see a trend with them. most of my customers, and/or friends that have them seem to start running into problems around 100k miles. problems that you'd not expect on a car of that stature.

i friggin HATE audis. they suck. i've seen them spend more time in repair shops, than in their owners driveways. everything from needing a thermostat and/or water pump at only 40-60k miles, to timing belts which require the removal of the entire nose of the car to do. they're not comfortable to sit in either. at least not the ones i've driven.

i don't much care for mercedes, but i also don't have any good reasons for not liking them. it's kind of a euro version of the ford/chevy thing for me.

while i acknowledge porshce as a good car.....i don't like em. they're ugly, and make annoying noise. i drove a cayanne s the other day after putting brakes on it. worst driving vehicle of that type i've ever driven.

i love volvos, 'cause those things are like ****roaches. they'll be here and running when everything else is long gone.

jaguar, saab, fiat........meh

Coming from Sweden myself I found that comment very funny and so true!

I have had a few 240's and 940's and the abuse they will take is insane, they will truly run forever! My 940 had over 287k miles on it when I sold it and not once did it leave me stranded or break down in any way.

I agree with some of the issues on the Audi's, however my wifes 2008 Audi RS4 with the 420hp V8 was an awesoem car. 50k miles of hard track racing abuse, driving across Europe and daily driving in all weather and had no issues at all. But the RS cars differ in many ways over the standard Audi's.

On a side note, I for one am looking forward to see what the GT500 will do at the Ring, I have 500 laps under my belt at that track so I finds those times very interesting!

I don't get it. BMW/Audi/Merc still use plastic interiors. I noticed that some American companies are moving to Pleather dashboards which look and feel much better.

i think that the audis we get here in the usa aren't the same as those you guys get over there. it sucks really. most of the audis i've worked on were a4, a6, both quattro and non quattro versions, and a couple tt's. i can't stand the tt's. i'm only 165# at 6'2, and can't get comfortable in them. and they seem to have more blind spot issues than my 85 e-350 cargo van(which has 348k miles).

i think it's gonna be interesting to see what they do, and to be honest, i think the times gonna shock most everyone.

also.......the system edited out part of ckroach? really?

I dont care what anyone says, thats a damn good looking car!! The rear is still the low point tho. Also the car sounded like pure sex!! This may sounds silly but it looked to be sticking pretty good and carrying a lot of speed!! Im predicting it has a good of ring time as the ZL1 if not better...
