Hoover Dam

Went to the Hoover Dam on the backside of a weekend trip to Las Vegas. The last time I was down at the Dam was in 2001 for New Year's when US93 still over the top of the Dam. There was a lot more security back then because it was largely believed there was going to be a terrorist attack after 9/11. US93 since has been expanded to four lanes including the overpass Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge which, is the 4th longest concrete arch bridge in the world. The Old US93 route over the Dam is now SR172 in Nevada. You can still cross the Dam in a car but you cannot cut over to US93 in Arizona anymore. This trip I ended up taking the Power Plant Tour and had time to see all the museums. Kinda amazing this place was built back in 1935, they really don't build things like this in the States anymore.

The best part was jumping over the concrete barrier on the US93 overpass bridge to get that first pic.

Dang, never saw the turbines that exposed before. I think when I went back in 2002ish, the water was about 10 feet or so below those bridges.

Did you see Megatron while you were there?

Very nice!

I got some great pics of Grand Coulee dam last year, and will be heading by there again in a week and a half with a small group of 5th Gens.

Not quite as big as Hoover Dam, but still...impressive.
