![]() You know just as much as the next guy that the numbers that are advertised are purely to poach customers away from a competing manufacturer. Don't play coy

Looks like the Mustang guys are angry about the ZL1 quarter times, so it's time to kick the 'ring time, I guess.

But overall I think it was a great article, and I'm glad OP posted this. I even have problems when people try to compare VIR lap times done on different days in different years like with the annual lighting lap comparisons. |

Okay, let me chime in.
First, the article is crap because nowadays companies make computer timed in-car videos of their attempts. Second, there is no second. See point #1. Consider it intellectual masturbation to know what your favorite car is capable of - it's exactly the same idea as rabid fans cheering on their sports team - a ritual I think is a tad obsessive, but nevertheless not worthy of the same scorn that people are heaping on the Nurburgring time attack attempts. |

and you will be angry when a ZL1 gets taken by 2007-2012 GT500. And they will be pounding their chest when their bad arse 650 monster rapes the ZL1.

They seem angry to me. And I don't care about the ZL1, it's just hard to read these forums with all the trolling and internet testosterone flowing around here. And take your Mustang bragging to the shitty SVT forums, you'll find other fanboys there who will happily agree with you there.

For North American "comparisons", the "favored" track currently seems to be Virginia International (VIR). Car and Driver uses this facility for their "Lightning Lap" annual times, and it's the course Chevrolet used for their sub-3:00 minute 1LE times. A destination most interested North Americans could at least possibly emulate/duplicate.
'Ring times, without a MANDATORY trip over a common weigh scale AND chassis dyno AND confirmation of DOT-approved OEM tires AND a common start/finish/launch, are merely long-distance (in more than one sense...) guesstimates, comparitively. |
