First Run soon, I'm nervous

Running at Atco Raceway. I'm worried I might line up against a sleeper n get smoked I hope I don't have a burnout fail before the race even starts. I'm gonna go into it having low expectation, maybe high 13, low 14

What you need to do is take a deep breath and relax to start with. Don't go into the first pass with any expectations or concerns about winning or losing, you'll be a whole lot further ahead to just get used to the procedure at the track for the first 5 passes or so. Get used to how you want to do your burnouts, how to stage the car and how to launch it. You can worry about who wins or loses later on, good luck to you and above all be safe and have FUN!!!

Thats my suggestion as well, just pay attention to whats going on around you, as long as you make it down the track in one piece for your first run your a winner.
I just ran for the first time last week and theres alot to think about so winning shouldnt be first on your list Altho it would be fun as hell to do so. I predict that as long as your pretty familiar with your car to begin with, youll run 13.5 on your first run. I was nervous as hell first time out and ran a 13.288 @103 mph.
youll love it

good luck and be safe

And make sure you update us after you get a few passes in, and let us know how it went. I'm going tomorrow for some test and tune passes myself.

Good advice above. Just try to relax and breath. Your heart will be beating out of its chest...but control it...lol. Dont worry about getting beat. Just race your race, thats all you can do. There are always tons of fast cars no matter how fast you run.

Oh yea and since its your first time....be ready to be hooked like a ****ing crack addict. You wont be able to stop racing and modding your car to go faster after your first time drag racing at the track.

just go and have fun... my first run I pulled a 19.87 @98mph... thought I broke something and pulled off, then just went with the flow and continued the run.

nerves will settle after the first run and then you will be hooked.

Just do like everyone else has said in here and just go out there and have fun. I finally got to go last week and after the first run I was fine. Didn't care if I lost or anything because the Majority of cars I went up against were old muscle drag cars. Also I was still completely stock.

When that third yellow light goes on,say one to yourself and takeoff.
Don't worry about trying to powerbrake the car. Just takeoff like you would from a light and hit it!

First... Losing to a better car and/or better driver is never anything to be ashamed of. There's always a bigger fish out there.. Sometimes you'll find him/her, sometimes not.. The only time you should be ashamed to lose to someone on the race track is if you've been being a turd to people about racing before hand.. Other than that... Go and have fun.

I did a burnout fail just this last weekend in a buddy's Corvette.. I'd never driven one before and never on a drag radial.. I was so concerned with the car and getting up to the line in someone else's car, that I forgot to turn of TC and botched the first burnout... I backed up, turned TC off, lit the tires and then went on to do a great run.

Basically.. We all are in the spot light on the track.. We all make mistakes -- even the track vets.. The point is to go, enjoy yourself, learn from people there that are better, teach those that are new and have fun..
