Cars with Manual Trans that match revs for you when shifting

I see we have manual trans. cars that "automatically" put the engine revs exactly to the same speed as the clutch disk, so when you shift the gear lever, there won't be any kind of jerk movement.

Luckily you can turn that off. (I suppose if you are texting and drinking coffee in the car, perhaps leave it turned on. OR IF Your wife wants to drive it and she can't drive a stick shift?)

What's funny is the guy who tested it, noticed it works if you UPSHIFT or DOWNSHIFT.

just press the clutch and MOVE the lever...don't worry about the gas pedal.

LOL this car has now become a video game

Doesn't the 2013 Camaro come with "Hill Start Assist"? I believe this system uses the ABS to hold the car from rolling backwards when you clutch on a hill from a standstill.

Is this the first time you are hearing about this? The car has been out since Jan 09. In addition, I still think synchrorev match is still a better system than CAGS.

I think it is a sweet feature, personally.

Trying to heel/toe and rev match gets to be a pain in the butt sometimes. Nothing wrong with admitting a computer can do something better than a person can.

It's the same as ABS when it first came out, or automatic transmissions way back when and all the way to modern PDKs. It's grumbled about at first, then it becomes normal.

People are not comfortable with change.

?

The two systems are intended to do completely different functions, one saves you gas (or at least lets you slip by the GG tax) while the other ... makes you feel like you're a better driver? I'm not entirely sure what its point is, besides the 'cool factor'.

Anyway, why even compare the two? I mean, two ways to do the same thing? Comparing them makes perfect sense. But two ways to do different things? I don't get it.

One limits the driver's ability to shift in patterns that he/she wants and the other enables the driver to use a manual without breaking stuff. Both can be eliminated with a switch already installed on the car by Nissan or with an aftermarket part part on cars with CAGS.

In either case, the system limits the ability of the drive to be in absolute control of his/her vehicle. The OP made a pretty harsh insinuation about a driver's ability if he/she owns a 370z.

Press the "S" button and you become a shifting expert.

I suppose I would just leave the S button on for grins.
