Almost every one in Skips family has diabetes, type one or two. I am VERY tough on him about what he eats. But he understands that its best for him. He ate really bad when we started dating, and now he loves eating healthy.

my dad has diabetes. got it later in life. some history on his side of the family. now they've put him on insulin. but he still won't eat good. He's about 100 pounds heavier than me. He snacks too much, then when his sugar goes up he doesn't eat and his sugar crashes. The way my brother is going i'm sure he'll end up that way. I'm the only one i guess that has any sense about diet and exercise.

counting calories is just an in-between step to get people to portion smaller.

you don't need to count calories if you portion smaller from the beginning.

and the 2000 or 2500 calories a day is a "good" guideline, but by that same guideline, I should weigh 160lbs at 6'1"... I haven't weighed 160 in nearly 10 years. but I'm def not out of shape. (I'll let you be the judge of that...lol)

Yeah. I just know what calories are in what portions so I just kind of add it up in my head as I go daily and stay in a certain range, 1400-1600.

Awe thats terrible. I seriously believe that for some food is a drug, an addiction. And they don't even know their are addicted. Well all the best to your family, I hope that maybe they will see that life can be better and easier if you live a healthy lifestyle. I'm proud of you for being healthy, maybe you'll be the little seed of motivation that they need. I'm glad Skip learned to be healthy early in life. And with Texas DPS you have to stay in shape and pass the physical every 6 months. So that will be good for him.

Well most departments dont have that rule that DPS has, and you'll see most older DPS aren't in shape because they are grandfathered in and that rule doesn't apply. All the young DPS around here are in shape. And this equals for bunny.

get a flyswatter or a belt and start slapping him with it. either he'll run from you or after you. either way... it gets him more exercise.

best shape of my life was when I was weight 250lbs and eating over 9000 calories a day. only slept about 4 hours too.
