To much to quote so I will touch on a few points.......
Toyota lost money, that's not breaking news. They lost quite a bit of money, which is highly unlike Toyota. To be honest I don't knwo all the specifics about how the "figures" are done but I would think there are some things that can't go ignored. Gm is filing, Toyota is building more plants. Gm is shutting plants down while Toyota is building more. In a large economic downturn everyone loses, I just figure you might lose more if you are investing more for the upturn. Just a thought. About all teh engine sludge and camshaft breakage.........are you being serious? Look at the overall production numbers. The camshaft issue was on a small batch. Same with a corrosion (not rusting in half) on some frames. Sludge....won't even go there. The important point that needs to be made is how Toyota handle the situations. They didn't leave it up to the consumers to find out, they made pro-active decisions for their customers. They made HUGE responses to not only correct but go above and beyond for the majority of the effectd consumers. Things like that build a loyal cusotmer base. I don't think it can really be argued that any domestic plant and "been there" for their consumers in quite some time. Scions were never meant to be large sellers. They actually have very low production numbers for a reason, they are meant to be customized, Toyota didn't/doesn't want a ton rolling around. The sharp decline in sales is due to less disposable income. THe mass appeal of Scion was to put several thousand on mods to YOUR car. Without the extra money to spend naturally sales will drop. You calling the Tundra a epic fail? Your basis? I grew up Gm, working on a farm in arkansas. I know more what a truck needs to do than most, we wore our work trucks into the ground. I also did over the road construction so I did a ton of towing with over weight limits most the time. I had GM 2500 HD and brother had f-250. I can HONESTLY say that the Tundra handles any given load better than any truck I have ever driven. The Tundra is quite the truck for those of you who haven't actually experienced it. You want to know something that you blind hatred idiots might think is funny. Toyota (as well as other foreign makers) are now facing idiots from both sides. I have people who refuse to purchase because it is a "Jap" company. But I am now starting to get people who refuse to buy because they know that most Toyota's are built in the USA. that's right, the domestics have built such a bad rap that people are affraid to buy ANY manufacturer built in the US. That is a sad fact. Now I will admit that the media has some affect on that. But you can't say it is all media. But I understand the domestic anger, I hear it from family and friends all the time. I sucks being on top of the world and getting knocked off your high horse. Times change and I am sure Toyota won't rule the auto industry forever. I am sure loyal Toyota people will be making similar outcries when we are replaced. |

December 7, 1941. That's all I have to say about that. Toyota can rot in hell.

According to the 2000 census [patiently waiting for the 2010 census]: LARGEST CITIES by population #1 - New York City New York 8,310,212 #2 - Los Angeles California 3,834,340 #3 - Chicago Illinois 2,836,658 #8 - San Diego California 1,266,731 #10 - San Jose California 939,899 #13 - San Francisco California 799,185 #14 - Indianapolis Indiana 795,458 #72 - Fort Wayne Indiana 251,247 LARGEST STATES by population (2008 estimate) #1 - California 36,756,666 #2 - Texas 24,326,974 #3 - New York 19,490,297 #4 - Florida 18,328,340 #5 - Illinois 12,901,563 #16 - Indiana 6,376,792 Looks to me like Los Angeles alone could hole half the population of the entire state of Indiana. And Indianapolis has only 20% the population of Los Angeles. ~~~~ Los Angeles has more consumers than Indianapolis, and is a better market for imports... for the wealthy and the frugal. California is the most highly populated state. And California has 4 of the largest cities in the top 20. ~~~~ California has the largest number of consumers to sell to. Now let's talk about cars and culture. I may be wrong, but the last time I traveled through the Ohio/Indiana area, I saw mostly white people [even took note of the Amish culture, but I don't think they're big GM customers]. White people who are proud to be American, and would more than likely never buy anything other than an American car. Unless you're really well off, and you decided to buy a European car. Have you ever been to California? It's a complete culture-shock. The moment you step off the plane at Los Angeles International Airport, you see people [travelers] who are from countries that you've never heard of. People [citizens] who don't speak english at all, and people [citizens] who are obviously American - but aren't white. So in other words, California is a very diverse state. If you don't like people because of their skin color, or because of their religion, the clothes they wear, or the cars they buy... then you'd have nothing but trouble here. Needless to say, California citizens are very accepting of other people, and other brands of cars. Every week I see at least one sports car that I have never heard of or seen before. We aren't all Chevy Ford and Dodge pickup truck drivers. We buy extremely luxurious vehicles from exotic European nations, and we buy conservative American cars like the Chevy Aveo, and we buy conservative import cars like the Honda Civic. In California, it's not rare to see a person "buying" a new car every 2-5 years. We are major consumers. And it just-so happens that the majority of Asian import cars come into the country through the Port Of Long Beach/Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon. We have a high Asian population in California. The cost of living is very high in California. And Toyotas are very affordable. Put 2 + 2 together, and you've got a booming economy for Japanese imports. So, Vizon, feel free to leave your little Indianapolis life and visit the real world in California. You'll see Scions left and right. Quote:

Nebraska... I gots extended family in Nebrasker... again... another isolated white society in the United States. You do realize that Toyotas ARE being built in the United States by AMERICANS, don't you? Take away all Japanese imports... and you'll be killing thousands of jobs in the US. Whether they're being manufactured here, or just being imported and shipped and sold and repaired and maintained by Americans. Last edited by FNKNSTN; 05-12-2009 at 01:45 AM. |

More than the number of people who died when those two buildings in New York fell down that one day some year in the early 2000's? |

And about that dumb phuck with a stick up his arse who was getting upset about me using the term "Jap" instead of the word "Japanese" because he thought it was racist - - - - - I thought the term "Nip" was the racial term. Just thought about that when I saw this other guy's posting in regards to Pearl Harbor... and this 1940's Bugs Bunny cartoon I saw called "Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips". |

Dude, he is talking partly about the the engines (4 cylinder) that were in the Camry and corrolla, don't know what others, that were built to run cooler but caused them to sludge and had smaller drain holes resulting in engine failure.

and more people were killed by germans, would you never buy a BMW, porsche audi VW or mercedes? and was toyota directly responsible for pearl harbor? if you look at the facts the attack on pearl harbor was more of a defensive maneuver on the japanese part than an attack. |
