I like popping caps too, it's fun stuff. What's that clip / switch on the handle? Also, that weapon resembles Para Ordinance a bit. |

I think at some point there were some CETME-based pistols floating around (Century Arms) in 7.62x51 NATO. But I can't for the life of me imagine firing a .308 pistol...

Holy crap Calbert take a chill pill. You don't need to live in the ghetto to have the right of self-defense.
I have a few guns and aside from my Remington 700/300WM, they aren't for hunting, and target practice isn't only to learn to kill paper better. If your country was so safe the police would be unarmed. But guns are obviously necessary. If you always have a cop (Mountie?) around then lucky you. But for those who don't, it's only fair to give a person the same level of defense available to the government troopers and the uber-special protected class who are important enough to be able to defend themselves with their Canadian concealed weapon permit. If a special person can have one, and criminals will have one regardless of the law, and the government troopers can have one, that just leaves the average law abiding person at a disadvantage. So if you don't want one, fine. But you shouldn't go around telling people what they should and should't do. My government spent time and money on me to go overseas to keep the peace. It's the least I can do to carry that same vigilance in the home front. I also don't have a state-issued body guard. So that's why I exercise my right to keep and BEAR arms. I think someone from Texas should take you under their wing for a week or two so you can see the light. |

Criminals are criminals and will carry regardless of the law. I just want the ability to protect myself and my family. Anyone that thinks they're safe because of their location should speak to my father in law. He was getting out of his car after pulling into his driveway in a very affluent neighborhood. A car pulled up, and two men jumped out...one with a gun. They stole his wallet which had a couple hundred bucks inside, hit him in the head and left. He now has his CHL and carries all the time. That being said...we need to keep the focus on guns, and avoid getting into a political discussion. That's the quickest way to get this thread closed. |

What do families of victims say when you tell them their loved one is statistically irrelevant? Sounds kind of cold hearted, but i'm just a silly person who believes in the freedom and liberty of the individual. Guess i'm not willing to take one for the greater good. |

So yeah, politics suck. Yay guns! Anyone thinking of getting the Springfield XDS when it comes out? I'm curious to see Springfield's take on a single-stack 9mm.

I agree if the data supports your "need" to carry for protection because that's the environment you live in that's all good, it makes logical sense, but if the data doesn't then it's senseless and having everybody carry just for the sake of saying you can makes no sense at all and would be more dangerous. Get real and give up on your baseless argument. The lack of carry law here saves more lives than it would if people carried. Go watch your local news, how many times is there a gun crime vs a gun accident? I can use your same senseless mathematics. I don't want to take one accidentally for the greater good either because some monkey wants to carry a loaded .44cal to be cool, and his 5yr. old picks it up and fires off a round while daddy is in the store picking up a pack of cigs., when there is absolutely no need to. Try to understand and I will write this again for your benefit. Canadians can own firearms, we can keep them at home, we can use them for hunting, sport, collection, self defence, et al. But, "everybody" cannot go to the shop, buy a .44mag. and stuff it in their pants to go hang out. There must be a "need". That's it not complicated, a "need", not a "want", a "need". Everywhere on the globe is not the same as where you live and therefore have different laws. That's what democracy is all about. You have your version, we have our, and it suits purpose for each country for good reason. Hell, if I live in varying states I carry weapons too. But, I don't so no need to, politics or not, no "need" to. Last edited by calbert1999; 04-06-2012 at 04:52 AM. |
