If you read the post I was responding to, I was talking about the 2005 mustangs, but heck any N.A. 4.6 V8 from Ford got its butt kicked by the Chevy small block. The 2003 cobra was originally planned to be N.A. (saw a video interview of Steve colletti I think that was his name) but they weren't getting the performance needed so they had no choice but to add a blower. Dont get me wrong, i loved that cobra my cousin had one making 500+ at the wheels but that IRS was a POS!!!! LOL.

They are both great cars. I just got my Camaro AFTER Ford pumped up the mustang. Camaro is still a better car. It's easier to get more power out of an LS3 than it is to turn a gimmicky Mustang into a better car. Yeah solid rear is good for drags and glass-smooth tracks, but how often are you there? My only complaint is wheel hop, but that can be fixed.
Besides...park a mustang next to a Camaro and tell any kid to pick one. They'll pick the cool one, which is of course the Camaro. |

The mustang took back the sales lead last month. Mark my words the 5th Gen hype is starting to wear off. It was a hot new (iconic) car that had been gone for YEARS that had been showing off cool concept pics and had a cool appearance in a HUGE movie. You really think the car wasnt going to sell well for the first few years??? Yea its been outselling the a mustang that has NEVER left and guess what, not by that much. Dont mistake its sales cause its some great car that is unlike any other car on the road today. As much as the average 5th gen owner wants to believe its a exotic $30k car, ITS NOT. The mustang has sold a sh*t ton more cars than the Camaro alltime and that isnt going to change.
And whoever said that chevy always comes out on top, stop smoking the peace pipe. Look how the SS came out and was a good bit faster than the mustang. What did ford do? Release the 5.0 and make up that ground and then some. Now GT>SS. Ford on top. Chevy announces a 580hp ZL1. Fords answer? A LIGHTER 650hp Shelby. Ford on top again. Shelby>ZL1 Ok big deal the ZL1 will prolly go around VIR quicker. How many ppl actually race their cars at a road course??? Figure out the percentage and compare it to the percentage of ppl that race in a straight line be it at the red light, highway, and drag strip where the Ford will OWN that Chevy. |

Contrast it to the Camaro's 305. It was a POS. It's gone down in history as one of GM's least liked engines in terms of reliability and modding. Compare how many Fox 5.0s you still see at the track running good times vs how many 3rd Gen Camaros with the 305 you see running good times. |

In reality these cars are so close that it comes down to driver skill. Road course performance is important depending on where you live. You can also say. Big deal the mustang is a better drag platform because of the live axle and Ford made it handle very well on the track. What good is it if you live in a city riddled with pot holes? More people probably drive their cars on the pot hole ridden streets than line up at lights to drag race. This is just an endless cycle. Just buy whatever you like based on what's important to you. I'm just glad to have all these choices. |

I actually almost ended up in a mustang, but there were two key issues that killed it for me. Remember they killed it for ME based and what I find important. 1. The Chinese made transmission. It may not be important to you, but it is to me. I had horrible experiences with Chinese metal and it doesn't seem to be going well for Ford either. 2. Ford's response to some of these warranty claims regarding the transmission. I believe they have responded poorly. I have had other brands where warranty claims became a big hassle and personally I no longer want to deal with a company like that anymore. At least not buying a new car. I will buy used in that case.
Other than that I can't find much fault with the 5.0 mustang. |

The Camaros have always leaned to a more all round performance car than straight line only. Take a 95 Fbody to a 95 Mustang, the mustang handles like a topheavy shoebox on wheels.
