I bailed out....and will miss this group

The title says it all. Sorry guys, I could'nt take the delays and problems any more. I did'nt want to miss another summer without a hot rod, and nobody knows how long it will take to get any of these cars fixed and shipped. I'm not knocking GM or the Camaro. I've driven it and loved it, but I did plan on adding horsepower to it that would have voided my warranty anyway.

I happened to sort of trip over a loaded and documented 2008 Shelby GT500 convertible locally (with the exhaust and suspension already done) with only 600 miles on it. Being that it cost me only $3000 more than the price of my Camaro I figured I could'nt go wrong. And obviously, the warranty is in full effect too. Its a beast, and its beautiful. And it WILL be in my garage in a couple days for sure. No more shipping holds, no more false info from Haji at the customer service center, no more apologies from my wonderful sales people who get treated like mushrooms by GM, no more guessing as to whats going on, etc. etc.

Would I have preferred the Camaro ...."yes". But do I love the GT500..."yes". Its proof that you can have more than one true love and still be happy.

Hopefully the Camaro program will get ironed out, GM will survive, and in a few years they will have a model available that will cause me to switch back from "the dark side". I have to admit, it is a huge relief to know that I finally have a car. The past two years have been an emotional roller coaster that I hope to never repeat.

I'd like to thank everyone on the site for the advice on everything, and to compliment everyone for the support you have given me and continue to give each other. I'll still be watching the site to keep updated on this fantastic car. And my thanks especially to Fbodfather. He has really done more than GM gives him credit for to keep up the moral of all potential buyers for this great car and to attract the interest of new customers by responding to so many concerns by so many people. Good luck to all, and I hope you get your cars soon.

Patience is a Virtue and the Mustang GT500 is second best, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Good Luck

I've got a little of everything between me and the misses...
Good luck with that beast.
My flag still flys higher for gm, but i have room for the mustangs and jeeps.
Some lucky person will get your order, so no foul, no harm..

Your Camaro was built 4/17 so you would probably be getting it pretty soon if you held on. I understand your frustration and yes, I also priced up a few "Other" cars recently. you are not alone. My car is also built but not shipped.

I have personaly decided to wait it out. It might be just a few more weeks for me. If the dealer does not try anything on me at delivery it should all go smoothly from here out. If the deal blows up at delivery, I might just halfta snatch up a marked down Vette, who knows.

The Shelby is a cool ride too but I still need my Camaro.

-Mark.

I understand the frustration. I think I would bail too if there was any other vehicle that moved me as much as this car but the bottom line is.....there isn't. I think this will be the last time that I 'pre-order' anything. It has been an emotional roller coater. I can't imagine what is must be like for the Camaro team at GM. I am just happy that they are making the car and that someday soon, maybe, it will finally be here. Good luck to you and enjoy your new car!

So sorry to hear that you bailed. But like NOL300 I am sure there are reasons and everyone has a different boiling point. The Mustang GT5 is a fine car and I am sure you will be very happy with it. Sounds like a fair price too. Actually if you weill be keeping it for a long long time it was an excellent price. Since you were in the QC hold and recall hold batch it would have been thee end of the month before you sow the Camaro anyway and sometimes the stress just is not worth it. Dont feel like you have to disappear from the forum just cause you went Blue Oval. We all still like you.

Congrats.

Hate to say this but..............

Camaro5 is a TINY segment of the the actual 5th gen buyers. I have a funny feeling that this is happening more and more.
