See alot of miserable people when driving the camaro..

Was driving to town yesterday, around a 20 mile trip. Nice early spring day, good music, curise control set at the 70 mph speed limit. Just enjoying my camaro. I pass a turn off onto the highway and there was a red Ford Taurus SHO. Not sure what year it was. Anyway, I cruise by him as he pulls onto the highway behind me. Never really paid any attention to him other then watching to make sure he did not pull out in front of me.

About 2 miles down the road, the highway turns into a 4 lane highway, two lanes in each direction. Again, I am still curising along, look in the rear view mirror and this red Ford Taurus is FLYING up behind me. I mean screaming. I was going 70 mph and this guy blows by me like I was standing still. I would say he was easily going 100 mph+.

I just kind of laughed as he flew by and did not even it much thought other then that this guy must have been in a hurry and where is a cop when you need one! He looked at me as he passed with a pissed off look......

So he blows by me and gets about 1/4 mile ahead of me and slows down. Slow enough that I caught up to him in cruise control and had to change lanes. When I got along side of him he floors it and takes off again like a bat out of hell. This got my attention and really started to annoy me but I simply let him go and pulled back into the drive lane.

Again, he got 1/4 mile ahead of me and slowed again. Obviously he was trying to bait me into a race but I was not biting, but I was going to prove a point. I slowed down to around 60 mph just to see if he would be a prick and press the issue. HE DID. So I am now going 60 mph and coming up on him. THis time I just pulled in tight behind him and did not turn into the other lane at first. He continued to slow until he was going 50 mph, then 45 and then 40 mph. Well, this was really annoying me.

I pulled into the other lane and got on the throttle hard but without breaking the rear end loose. The trans dropped to 2nd gear and launched around him. He tried to get on the gas but I was by him so fast and turned into his lane (Using turn signal no less) before he could even come close. All that and I never broke 80 mph which is about where the HPs will start thinking about pulling you over. Then shut her down and set the cruise at 75 mph which was the speed limit in that stretch of road.

He caught up and blew by me again, this time giving me the one finger salute as he went by. I just laughed at him.

Well, down the road is a small town and I see this prick turn into a gas station so I just had to do it. I fallow him in, he pulls up to the store and I pull up right next to him. I roll down my window and he rolls down his passager side window. I asked him if he needed something and he barked NO!! Then asked why I asked and I said it sure seemed like he wanted to get my attention for some reason for the past 10 miles.

He said he just hated overrated camaros made by GOVERNMENT MOTORS and that he had taken the speed limiter off his SHO and now it was faster then any camaro on the road as he could hit 180 mph. I could not help it and laughed out loud. He said he had beaten dozens of camaros from a rolling start type of race and the fact that I would not race him only proved his point, I was scared of his stock SHO. Again I could not help it, I laughed out loud which really pissed him off!!

Told him I was not scared of S#!%, just that his POS SHO was not worth the time and that when you have +650 HP you need to be responsible on the street and that only fools street race. Now this guy was probably in his mid 50s. I am in my late 30s. He jumps out of his car and comes over to my window and says, and I quote, "Your being called out BOY, pop the hood, there is no way your pushing that much HP!!" Normally I would have been a bit more aggressive with words like this but it was obvious this guy was just a loon so I was going to have a little fun with him. I started laughing again. This guy was about 5'8" tall, so I get out of the car and stand up next to him. I am not huge but at 6'3" I think it pissed him off he had to look up at me because he sure got poofed up as I walked by him.

Popped the hood and just stood there. He looked at the engine for about 20 seconds and then looked at me and asked, what engine is this, the v-6 or v-8........Laughed again and then I asked him how many spark plugs wires are there???

Then he said whats that thing on top of your engine (Magnuson). Did not even reply other then saying, " as I said, your a waste of my time." Close my hood, got in my car and started to drive away. As I did he give me another one finger salute. Leaned out my window and told him to have a nice day with your 180 mph SHO!!!!

I am kind of a competitive sole so I was pretty reved up by this prick. What is the deal with some people. Do they really have that pathetic of a life that they have to go around being worthless, unhappy people. Just as I got into town a guy in an older Ford truck, mid 70s blew by me and gave me a stare down again. Just waved and laughed again. There are alot of really sad people. I only wish there was a way to get these guys in a safe controled situation and prove how pathetic they really are but they would never put themselves in that situation and I WILL not get into a bad situation with these idiots on the street, I mean who do you think would get the wreckless driving ticket, a supercharged Camaro or a FORD SHO!!!!! And if the offense is bad enough, they can take your car right there, NO THANKS.

Guess you just have to laugh at these poor people. I can not imagine being that big of a prick to someone else on the road or anywhere for that matter over the car they drive...... Jsut amazing!!!

You guys have anything like this happen to you while driving your camaros? Love to hear your stories. No street racing stories though, need to follow the rules.

sounds like more of a jealous thing to me.
he was probably ticked off at himself because he had the sho and not the camaro.
I never , ever street race anyone.Anyone that asks can kiss my @$$.Not worth having the camaro impounded by the police and/or the fines and jail time associated with street racing here.
I respect other peoples rides and admire all of the muscle cars(regardless of the make).
I find it more interesting to meet and talk to people and find out about their stories with their cars and the mods they have done.

I could not agree more. I am not a fan of the mustangs but I assume those that own one have as much pride in their muscle car as I have in my camaro and that is something that should be respected at the very least.

Just not sure why people get so reved up about what others drive. We all have a competitive side for sure but thats no reason to be an A$$, especially when the A$$ is a totally uneducated fool!!!

The guv'ment's why we ain't got motors that can run on water... or that get about 500 miles to the gallon. They got 'em, fer sure, you know... I seen the blueprints (well, not me personally, but this guy I know done seen 'em for sure), but anybody that tries to build one gets mysteriously disappeared.
