Before I decided on my Challenger I test drove all 3, Camaro SS, the new 5.0 Mustang and the SRT8 Challenger. I drove the Camaro first. I loved how the Camaro felt, I sat in it and it felt instantly familiar. The steering was precise and I loved the overall feel of the car. Second up was the Mustang. To me the 5.0 didn't sit me back in the seat like the Camaro or Challenger did. The interior felt cheaper to me, the silver panels on the dash were really cheap hard plastic and I found the ride rough, the steering felt weird in every mode(comfort, sport ect) And I just didn't generally like the feel of the car.
Now to the Challenger. When I went and looked at the Challenger I had pretty much set my mind on a Camaro and had been for a long time. When I walked in to the dealership to look at the car the first thing that went through my head was, there's no way this is a 2009 it's too mint. When I sat in the car I found out why it was mint, there was 14,000 km's on the odometer. I PM'd a few people on allpar and got them to do a bit of digging for me, it turns out the car was owned by Chrysler. I took the car for a test drive and decided to grab it while it was still there and signed the papers and took it home the next day.
The Camaro I test drove was a 1SS no RS package with a 6spd. It was a 2011 and was only a few thousand less than the Challenger. I looked on autotrader for Camaros here in Nova Scotia and only found a few. None of them were what I wanted. When it comes to the Camaro I'm pretty picky on what it has to be. 2SS/RS, sunroof and the ls3/6spd. all that I found here were L99's and a few RS's. Had i of found the Camaro I really wanted I would have that instead of the Dodge. Unlike alot of people I'm not brand loyal, I like what I like and it doesn't matter what emblem is on the front. That's why I still browse these forums daily to see what's going on with the Camaro.

Nice find! I really like the Challenger. It's a very close second for me!

They're all just advertising rubbish.

Personally, I dig the Challenger as well! But the family loved Bumblebee more, and it wasn't a hard sell to switch my mind. I'd have been happy with either.

Sorry to feed a thread drift.

I hear you.

In the early 90, no offense anyone, but I thought the 4th Gen Camaros were ugly. I bought a T-Bird Super Coupe (super charged V6 and fast for a big boat).

I've had an F150 Lightning. Fast for a truck.

Even tried Mopar once (never do that again).

Buy what you want.

Right now, for me, it's my SS.

I give Ford props for this commercial.

As for the GM one. It's ok. There were several others that were much better but this one won. I don't hate it, it's just not that "cool". It doesn't really showcase the car at all. It's a yellow convertible. Could be any car.

A lot of folks on here need to take off the GM blinders and at least take notice that there are other cars out there. You don't have to buy one, or even like them but to just bash every single thing... Crazy. Like the USA Today ad where the Shelby 1000 is falsely lifted... People are here are getting all bent about it. WGAS it's an ad. Last time I checked there were a few far fetched GM ads.

That Camaro commercial made me laugh....and that's what is was supposed to do. As was stated, it was created by college kids for a contest. Ford had to pay lots of money to an advertising agency to write and produce that mustang commercial.

my opinion....that mustang ad isn't great, it's ehhhh. AND, the car is ugly (also my opinion).

AND, this thread sucks. (again, my opinion).

In my opinion it would appear that FORD is targeting a younger demographic for most of their cars. Look at how loaded with technology they are... Older people in general don't want features like touch screen displays or Pandora radio etc... Chevys lineup, until VERY recently had been severely lacking in technology compared to Ford. With that said, I believe Chevy has and will continue to target an older audience for the Camaro. Most 20-somethings cannot afford a 30-50k car with all the bells and whistles... So I totally understand why the Camaro ads are the way they are. Think old man turning young again ad, middle aged man sleeping in his bed dreaming about his camaro ad, and this one, young guy who wants a Camaro but can only get it as a gift, but the car is still owned by a middle aged man.

It makes total sense. I don't particularly think the ads fit the Camaro's muscular attitude, but they do one thing well, appeal to the market that can actually afford the car... As one guy commented, they don't include a hipster or some hot lady in the city (Muscle cars need room to be driven anyway, so cities don't even make a lot of sense for an ad)

I do, on the other hand, love the Mustang ads I've seen, including the most recent one with the hot lady eyeing the car and the cool effects. It appeals to me because I'm younger. But with that said, many people my age can't afford a 30k+ car very easily. But then again, until you have kids, I hear everybody has a lot of free cash, so I suppose I could be wrong. I just know my friends, and the majority of them are still driving older cars or cars sold for the sub 20k mark...

Deep down I wish Chevy would make "cooler" ads, but I already have the Camaro I dreamed of. So I suppose an ad targeted at 20-somethings would only make me want to upgrade. That would be bad news!

Two completely different commercials. The Chevy commercials were a competition, and there's a whole lot of them that are on youtube to check out. They're all great.

That mustang commercial is cool too, just very different!

In comparison, the camaro commercial is way funnier of course.
