And so it begins.

This is a battle I can't side with the "little guy" on...there are too many dealers left over from an age of Industry dominance that no longer exists...

Well I hope they keep geographic limitations in mind also. I dont see a reason to cut dealers in smaller areas over mutiple dealers in the same large cities. I wont buy a vehicle if I would have to go over forty miles to get service.

"those dealers will be allowed to operate until their current contract expires in October 2010, she said, although they can elect to close sooner." So there shouldn't be any threads on my dealer was closed by GM and I'm NOT getting my Camaro.

Personally, I'd like to see many L.A. county dealerships go.(Clippinger).

I agree that some dealers HAVE to go. We have one in out town and one in a town 30 or so minutes away. If they were to close either one of them certain people would be forced to go to a completely different town to get service and so on.

However, with certain midsize cities having 40 some odd dealerships some have to go.

We have 4 Chevy dealers all within a 20 mile radius. Ridiculous.

I already made this statement once before, but GM will declare bankruptcy come June 1st (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...983#post451983). And it will be done to position them to shed dealers, legacy cost, renegotiate contracts including supplier and labor, etc.

My big concern is what happens to all of us who preordered cars, with deposits, that are not delivered yet. Example, a dealer is hanging on by their fingernails now and getting news of being dropped by GM pushes them over the edge immediately. Will GM provide us a way to still get our car as a preorder through some other dealer, and at the same agreement we had with the last dealer? How about our deposit, will they compensate us for that due to the fact that it was their move that put the deposit in jeopardy. I love this car. But to tell you the truth, I am remaining patient because I am getting a car with the preorder label, which I feel adds value. If I can't have a preorder car I may drop out of the race.

Don’t get me wrong I believe GM needs to do this, but they need to think about more than just the dealers in this case.

Hey! I hope so I put a $21,600 trade-in as a down-payment on my 2SS order which they have already sold! This was probably a very stupid thing to do!!!

All of the preorders should be built by the end of the 3rd quarter. That should be PLENTY of time to get your car.

Also almost all the dealers will have the option to carry out their contract until 2010.
