Anybody in the loop concerning GM Canada and the CAW, now there is a May 15th deadline to come up with a labour agreement that matches Toyota's or GM Canada's assett's will be liquidated by the government.

Just sounds like negotiations to me, nothing that is not expected! Seems pretty crappy to let Toyotas business standards dictate how GM or any other american automobile manufacturer runs their business IMO.

I was watching an interview on the morning news today and the CAW rep was explaining that GM's plants were much more productive than Toyota's and it was unfair to compare the two. I was shocked to see such an ultimatum put on this. Especially considering the government had approved the last deal in March.

Politics at all levels. This is becoming the norm. It can not be "business as usual". This is present day reality. We will just have to wait it out and hope for the best...

IMO the CAW and GM will come to an agreement. I believe the real question is bankruptcy, restructering and if that will halt production for a while.

I was not aware GM was receiving funds from Canada, my understanding was the Canadian Government was facilitating up 2 billion dollar in car loans to It's citizens not GM. That in return would make vehicle purchases more common/numerous. I personally think that whole article is full of it.
