'12 5.0 is light!

My buddy that helped me with the supercharger install just bought a new 5.0. Shipping weight 3470. Base model 6sp Manual. Street fighter for sure. I'm willing to guess with the right gears, boss intake, intake, and exhaust plus tune...he runs with my supercharged car. We'll see. But I bet it does.

both fast cars! props to both! Camaro needs more mods due to weight but theres no shame in that really, sure aint the owners fault! Takes a ton of power to make 4000lbs fly, ask me how i know!

Tell him to skip the CAI and Boss manifold and just get an off road H pipe and tune. A lot of guy's are removing the Boss manifolds off their GT's because it robs power for daily driving.

The m6 5.0 already has 3.73 gears and its going to take a lot more than a few bolt-on's to run with your FI'ed Camaro.
I also own a 2011 Roush 5xr (blown 5.0) 540hp and it doesnt come close to my Camaro. My neighbor has a 2012 Roush RS3 another blown 5.0. He has quite a few mods done to his car and is putting down 610rwhp with 14lbs boost. He's has a few Steeda and Roush suspension mods but he has definately has some traction issues. He gets so ticked off because he can't run with my Camaro with 9lbs boost throwing down 635rwhp from a dig or from a roll.
My modded 87 GN eats his lunch too. I run a solid 11.50 on DR's with the GN and my Camaro WALKS the Grand National.

Unless he is spinning it up in the 7000-7500 range the Boss intake isnt gonna do squat but take torque away. Also, the CAI's havent been making that much power over just a drop in filter on the stock box.

OK, yeah, ive been at the dyno too much these past few weeks........

The 5.0 base model is over 3600lbs. 3860 for 2SS. 3849 for 1SS.

The weight difference is ~250lbs...the weight of a good size male passenger.

It probably ships with no gas or any other fluids. Which could bring it down to 3470...but then the SS would also have a lower shipping weight as well. All things equal the cars are ~250lbs apart.

your friend makes 610rwhp and still cant run faster than 11.5? that explains a lot.

Doesnt matter...the scale was off then.

Ford knows the weight of the car better than anyone.

The weight of the lightest GT possible BASE GT curb weight is 3605 per Ford. Curb weight= all fluids and gas. The GT also has a slightly smaller gas tank than the SS.

http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2...g_GT_Specs.pdf

Have the guy with the camera in the mustang and the weight difference is gone for the most part depending on their size.

My car is under 3800 now with my aftermarket wheels and exhaust. Should be close to 3700 with a braile battery and 1/4 tank. Doesnt matter much with me being 240 lol. I'll still be near 4000 race weight.

the boss mani means you have to wind it to 7800 to see the big gains. i took it off in a week.

i went from 387whp tune only, to 413whp with the cai only.

my 2011 M6 gt is right at 3500lbs, only weight savings would be tubular lcas, and no mufflers or trunk trim

Nice.

According to Ford the Base GT M6 weighs 3603 (2012 spec sheet)-3605 (2011 spec sheet) full tank and all fluids.

Not much else I can say...just posting the facts according to Ford. Doesnt really matter to me...just trying to give accurate information.

The manual cars have the option of being equipped with a 3.73 but most are only 3.31 gears. And I'm gonna say a full bolt on 5.0 would give a forced induction camaro a good run. Depending on other mods of course. And if your friend can't run better than an 11.50, he needs a driver mod...
