You know....I like the GT500. I like it about as much as I like a Big Mac...that is, I prefer a Whopper...but I'd still eat it.

But man alive am I tired of hearing about it. So much so that I feel as though I need to NOT like it just to achieve some balance.

Those of us who've bought a ZL1 know we have a better car. The metric for the "better" designation is arguable...but I'm not micro-managing when I use it. Overall, from street to strip to track...the ZL1 is a better car. Camaro enthusiasts: You don't need to be defensive about this - be proud that you've bought a car that will put a smile on your face every time to sit in it.

Yet the GT500 is a damn fast car - and there's no taking away from that. Soooo...outside of goofing around in the typical Mustang vs Camaro fashion...why all the flaring tempers and pot-shots back and forth?

What really makes me chuckle is the debate that ensues...as though ANYBODY really thinks they're going to change a person's mind on the matter. These cars are both at a performance level that is just beyond any arguing...all that matters between these two is which one "speaks" to you. And you can't argue that point, IMO.

Sooooo...relax?

I don't know about you all - but I plan on enjoying my ZL1 when it comes, not waste finger strokes defending my favorite (or attacking the other ). I hope everyone here will, too....be it a ZL1 or a GT500.

I see the pont totally went over your head bud. The point is that people are adding all these options to the Mustang that are not available on a Camaro for ANY price to drive the estimate up to makeit look like the ZL1 is the lower priced better deal, guess what, it's not. THey are both on the same ground pricewise.

So for 5700 you would have to fully forge your ZL1 and gain 70 HP, PLUS find a way to knock 300 pounds off the weight just to be even. not happening bud........
Actually, this silly tax only applies in regressive regimes. Some areas of the planet where the people have liberty (a few dwindling sections of the globe) do not have to pay these onerous plunderings of private property.

Thanks for the thanks, guys.

I just want to see people on both sides be able to enjoy their cars without someone trying to tear into them for something that really doesn't matter.

I tried saying that one 5 times fast just for fun...

Let's try to keep the thread on topic, and stay away from political discussions, please.

But you just did waste finger strokes defending it. Both cars are awesome and better in different situations. I am sure zl1 owners wouldn't mind less weight an the extra hp the 500 has. Likewise, 500 owners would like the zl1 handling and track manners. Arguing is futile, but so is claiming you're taking the high road and not defending the car....when you just did. Let the argument continue. Without it there's no zl1 or upgraded 500.

Why don't you go to one of those sections of the globe then? Last I checked we're all free to leave this terrible place.

Respectfully...no, I didn't. Offering accolades to both cars in an attempt to calm the waters hardly qualifies as defensive behavior such as has been demonstrated in here on both sides of the stage.

The discussion can continue, by all means. It's not my wish to stifle the rivalry...but the arguing is repetitive, petty, and frankly annoying. And that's what I weighed in on....

Respectfully, looks like you did to me ( pretty sure you claimed you know the zl1 is a better car). Repetitive, petty and annoying arguing is the definition of rivalry( I should know, i'm a die hard Yankee fan). If you're annoyed find a different thread, there are plenty praising the zl1 (rightfully so, it's going to be a great car) and most of this banter is pretty harmless.
