You can sleep in your car, but you can't drive your house to work.

What I don't get is why anyone would buy the in-dash navigation anyway. The car comes with SYNC which offers turn-by-turn directions (and other features) and does not cost you anything. Unlike Onstar, that you have to subscribe to. Do people really need the visual aide that much?

the screen is not just for navigation. You can watch DVD, view several days weather forecast, movie schedules, a ton more stuff. There is much much more to it than navigation.

The only track most of these cars will ever see is a quarter mile or the open road between traffic lights. In that regard, it makes alot of sense to make the upgraded suspension, etc an option. Horsepower bragging rights and quarter mile times in this class is what most people truly want.
The price is a wash. It will be down to who can get the best deal where for which car they want.

The 2013 GT500 price didn't reach the doomsayer level of $60K base, but it did increase about 12% over the 2012 model which is a huge jump for a single make/model in one year. Though it did come with a hefty performance improvement for that amount.

The way I see is is that both the new GT500 and the ZL1 are the best in history (for either a camaro or mustang). Both have pluses. It should come down to get what you like and don't worry about what others say.

I will say one thing.. since owning my 2012 GT500, I love the recaro seats. I do hope that future Camaros get this option.

Its still too early to say and we will have to wait for them to hit the streets and reviews. I say this because the 2013 GT500 Vert is three or so seconds faster a lap at Seabring then the out going 2012 PP coupe which has never been beat by the Boss and most likely would of closed the gap during MT's ZL1 vs Boss LS compro and given all of us a better idea of the 2013's road course performance in relation to the ZL1.

Oh well, its probably less the 8 weeks away from getting a clear road course winner.

Fords a fail on this car at this price. 54k for a base Shelby. who-hoo. Still comes out at 70 plus like I said in the beginning.
Once you add the stuff needed to make it even competitive with the ZL1, your priced WAY higher.
For 70k I can forge internal and blower up my ZL1 to out power the 500 anyway...I see this as a fail for the Shelby big time cause its a lame attemp to undermine the ZL1 with a last ditch effort that falls short of the mark.
Long live the KING =ZL1.

It is more like 66k and a t least4k is things not even available on the ZL1 (aka glass roof and navigation), so lets say 62k with ALL the performance goodies, take the 55k ZL1 and YOU MUST ADD the 1300 gas guzzler tax, this is NOT anoption! and you have around 56300. So for 5700 you would have to fully forge your ZL1 and gain 70 HP, PLUS find a way to knock 300 pounds off the weight just to be even. not happening bud........

Not going down the road you can't. As far as that other stuff, that's why I have an IPad, and it was much cheaper and more portable than the electronics/navigation package offered in the GT500.

The real answer is preference.

Some people actually like having everything packaged nicely and organically into the car regardless of the price differential. My personal preference is to not drag my iPad everywhere unless I'm actually going to do some hotel living for awhile.

I hear old-fashioned paper maps are pretty cheap if you are really trying to optimize your budget though.
