You can use it instead of the stock hood latch. Originally racers used em to be able to remove the entire hood quickly. So, you'd have one pin on each corner of the hood. No stock latches and no hinges. Most streeters do it know cus it's cool lookin'

Yeah, this is actually a Smart fortwo that has a body kit on it.

Similar to what I said about the El Camaro degrading the Camaro, this definitely degrades the GT500.

Now, maybe put that up on a Suzuki Sidekick 4x4 chassis, give it a 6" lift and some big tires and you have one seriously ugly POS that some white trash loser would love to drive around in.

holes are drilled in the hood and the pins are welded to the body supports in the engine compartment, the hair pins hold the hood in place. kinda like a hitch pin on a trailer

Thanks for the explanation. Does the hood rattle though? The trailer hitch thing has a little jiggle to it on my truck.

you welcome ! they never really rattled on the hoods of any of the show cars we had. mostly the fiberglass hoods were pined. that way we could take them right off.

its not quite the same as a trailer hitch. but you can see from the posted pictures that it is just that... a hood pin. the main benefits are less weight, (if you actually put on a light weight performance hood that is), because you remove the hood springs/struts. if you mount it right, the hood will not rattle, and if you can, you will most likely reuse the rubber hood stops inside the engine bay.
