Actually the 8 speed automatic is a good thing:

With seven gears "you have much better variability" between low and high road speeds, said Dr. Stephan Manger, senior manager for overall vehicle development of the Mercedes-Benz M-, R- and GL-Class. "Intelligence in the system recognizes which is the correct gear." A five-speed transmission might have only one or two choices to downshift into when needed at a given road speed. Additional gear ratios present additional choices "to get to the right point."

It's the loyalty aspect...head down to Bowling Green Assembly one of these days and drive through the parking lot...you'll have a hard time finding the imports amidst all the GM vehicles.

I don't know, I just think that if you work for the company, you should at least help support it. Driving another automaker's product is almost like saying you don't have confidence in the company.

Then again, very few people share my train of thought these days...just look around on the roads...

I agree with you they should support them but like you said it's almost like they dont have confidence in the company look at the state GM is in now, would you have confidence in that company?

Yes, I do. This is far from the worst they've gone through. They've pulled out of financial troubles far greater than this one...and in all honesty, toyota is not exactly in the best situation either.

Everyone is hurting right now, every automaker in the world. For some reason, America just has a fixation with seeing GM go down...

It scares us, even if we won't admit it...one of the "taken for granted" realizations, big time....problem is, few know enough about it to know what to do...so it regresses into doubt and cynicism.

But here I am all off-topic...If that car MSRPs for $55-whatever thousand, how'd you manage to get such a deal on it?

I'm sorry fenwick. I have gone to three auto shows and at all three of them one of my absolute favorite cars in terms of performance, creature comforts, styling, and an outrageously comfortable interior was the IS-F.

The way I shop for vehicle is this. First and foremost is GM! Personally, I would buy from other brands but for right now I'm not buying anything but a GM product. After that, I do not look at the badge on the car. I only base it on my personal feelings about the car. Looks, options, comforts, and how the car fits me. And in terms of the IS-F it dang near steals the show for me...I like infiniti, lexus, bmw, chrysler, mini, acura, ferrari, jag, subaro, jeep, screw it, there is something I like from everybody. Well, except ford, they are making nothing I am interested in...

It's ugly. Put it beside a new Camaro in a parking lot and no-one will even give it a second glance

Heck yea. Im sorry but an IS-F is a sweet car anyway you shake a stick at it.

He has a great fact about the resale value. Hell the Camaro is ALREADY on rental fleet lots is going to kill its value. Then they are planning on building 100k cars a year.

IS-F has maybe 3k a YEAR. For 40k Id highly consider it as well.
