It's amazing how I now work out twice as much as I did 20 years ago, yet get half the results as I got 20 years ago. I mean to have a talk with Father Time at some point.

It's a hard world in which to lose weight these days; my sincere admiration to those who fight the good fight to lose weight because they simply want to make life better! (Better being loosely defined, as a world without bacon isn't necessarily better in my book....ha.)

Yeah, no excuses around here!

I just had my cheat meal plus some. A visit to my mother-in-law's house will do that. Southern fried chicken, but the rest of the meal, not bad, 3 different salads, corn on the cob & bread. But then came dessert, Cherries Jubilee, Yum. Nothing else for me today, then back on track tomorrow. I don't feel too bad though. I have really lost some inches this last couple of weeks. Not finished yet though. Tomorrow Zumba!

I've never used a squat machine, I squat with free weights, but from the looks of that the angle pretty much forces you to push through your heels which also may account for why you feel it in your calves.

Got me a hiking helper, currently burrowed in my bed. Fostering to adopt, so far so good! So well behaved! Dublin loves everyone.

Cutting diet started today. I found last spring that carb pulsing worked best for me. I'll eat around 100 - 125 carbs per day on workout days, and less than 50 carbs per day on non work out days. Protein will get bumped up to about 200gr per day for starters, and as I near my goal I'll cut the workout day carbs a bit more and replace those calories with a bit more protein.

2/27/12 - 161 pounds and 9.8% body fat (goal will be 6-7% without losing much strength)

6AM
One scoop Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey with water
Supplementation - multi vitamin (centrum knock off), 1200mg red yeast rice (keeps my cholesterol in check), 1gr flaxseed oil, 2500mcg B12 (just added this one thanks Bonnie! So far I love it)

Workout - 7:30am - 8:30am

9am
One scoop Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey with water
1 pack Buddy Fruit - small carb dose to help absorb protein post work out
1 cup coffee with artificial sweetner and creamer

12pm
1/2 pack ramen noodles
1 can chicken breasat
1.5 cups green beans
1 medium apple
1 12oz diet Mtn Dew

3pm
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup almonds

6pm
One scoop Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey with water
1tbsp natural peanut butter

7:30pm
2 cups Turkey Chili

Today's Workout

Chest/Biceps

Incline dumb bell press - 85 8/8/8
Flat dumb bell press - 75 10/10/9
Flat dumb bell fly - 50 8/8/8
Standing dumb bell curl - 45 10/10/10
Preacher dumb bell hammer curl - 40 8/8/8
Straight bar cable curl - 120/130/140 10/10/8
Life Force chest press (burnout) - 145/130/115 15/15/12
