Because Mabus is unfit to be Secretary of the Navy.

The military shouldn't be a place for political games and social experiments.

If I was Giffords, I'd decline the honor of being included in this guy's political naming schemes. From Murtha and Chavez to changing a ship name to that of his home county. What a joke.

And yea, there's plenty of more worthy people: http://militarytimes.com/valor/

I don't really have a horse in this race, but I'm surprised that my honorable associates in the Canoe Club (US Navy) don't have a rule similar to the United States Mint. Basically, no living Presidents are put US coinage. Might not be a bad way to go for ships...

You can get the Marine Corps Times pretty cheap.

Less time in Kinville (or your down south near Gate 2?), more time reading.

I think it's no living person, but the sentiment is right. You should be dead before your name gets put on anything.

Or how about Gabrielle's husband, the astronaut? I'd find HIM a more appropriate choice than her, easily...

The US Military has long been a place for social experimentation. It was desegregated waaaaaaay before the rest of society!
