the acadia isnt smaller, its the GMC twin of the traverse. Your thinking of the Terrain which is the twin of the Equinox.

I like the front but the back is too round, it does look a little mini vanish. I'd rather have this

I agree. But with all the seats down in the back the Acadia/Traverse has 117 cubit feet of cargo space, that is massive. With all the seats down in the new Explorer it only has 80 cubic feet of cargo space. Huge difference. The new Durango comes in at 87 cubic feet.

Traverse/Acadia is huge inside compared to the competition.

Nice review Apex.

We arrived at the Traverse as our choice too. We bought a slightly used Black 2009 leather LT exactly 2 yrs ago.

We now have about 28K on it and have had zero trouble. Ours apparently was the last of the non AWD ones. I really like the second row bucket seat layout.

We looked at a lot of SUV/crossovers before buying and the Traverse had the "value". I actually do like the Acadia a bit better, but only for the styling. But again, they were all priced higher enough that we settled on the Traverse
Again, thanks for your write-up

PS: We started out looking for a Lexus RX350, so that speaks volumes itself about the Traverse.

The interior room and 7 passenger seating were two of the big things that drew us to the Traverse.

What are your real world MPG numbers? I ask because I want to buy an Acadia in a couple years but if gas is too high I might have to go with Explorer because of its superior MPG numbers.

I worry about people sometimes.
According to the Manufacturer's sites, the Exploder gets .4L/100km or .7 mpg better fuel mileage Combined then the Traverse/Acadia. And .6L/100kms or 1 whole mpg better in the city.

I hardly find that superior.

With the better interior capacity and towing numbers in favour of the Traverse/Acadia... not to mention the powertrain warranty... I see the GM's as the better pick.

To be honest, I have never bothered to check. I guess that means good enough that it hasn't bothered me. My understanding is that the Traverse/Acadia are due for a redesign in the next model year or two so if you are a couple of years out you will probably be looking at an all new model with improved fuel mileage.

Well they just unveiled the 2013 Acadia refreshed look, but its not a redesign. So that tells me they will go with the refreshed look for at least 3 years (2016) before they redo it.

But yeah if your not bothered what so ever with your MPG its a good sign.

No need to insult me. I was under the impression that Acadia/Traverse only got 23MPG max. Explorer gets 25mpg and people are reporting that if they stay under 70mph they are getting 27MPG.

But thanks for posting the comparison.
