Sally; you really hit the nail on the head with the word that inexplicably escaped me last night- Passion. That one simple word sums it up so well. Sometimes it feels a bit shallow to be so enamored with something, that when you really think about it, is nothing more than a means of transportation. An inanimate object made of steel and plastic. But when I think of all the unhappy people in the world who want to know why they are unhappy, I have to suspect that the answer for many of them lies in the fact that they have no passion for anything. In life, it is our passions that lead us to our joys. So in that vein I make no apologies for being passionate about my car. It makes me happy. And I intend to keep driving it with a smile on my face. Regardless if anyone waves back or not!

To some people a car is just a car.........a way to go places......

To me it's part of my life, my history.......my Dad was a lubrication chemist, made oil & grease for all kinds of engines........needless to say, I got my passion from him! My first car was a red chevy.....so that's why I have what I have now.........we went on lots of road trips and I was the navigator and then eventually the go to driver......I cruised Broadway almost every night in high school.......I met my late husband cruising.......what's not to love about a car?

It is a sign of successful GM marketing. One of the keys to the Camaro business case was attracting import owners and buyers who are NOT car guys. Those that don't wave are most likely in these two groups. The Camaro to them is a conveyance and nothing more. That is OK. We need them to keep buying so Chevrolet can continue to build the cars we are passionate about.

Keep waving and keep inviting every Camaro owner you see. Some will become converts after being exposed to Camaro Camaraderie. Who knows, we find some future addicts.

JusticePete, you make a good case for successful marketing to the "unenlightened." The Camaro, will, at the very least, transport people from point A to point B, regardless of how appreciative they are.

I'm reminded of a story (although I don't know how accurate it is) about Microsoft's very successful advertising campaign launching Windows 95 using the Rolling Stones Song "Start Me Up" as the soundtrack.

Purtportedly, a significant per centage of Win 95 purchasers didn't even have a computer.... (so they weren't going anywhere).

Now that's a successful ad campaign!

Remember this?

In the Northeast, the middle finger could be possible. The Northwest can be a pretty sour place (might be the weather) where you're most likely to just be ignored.
Then there's always the people who are just afraid you might be trying to kill them. A situation apparently preventable by not making eye contact.

Well that was fun! I'm off to British Columbia tomorrow. My cel doesn't work there. The in-laws don't have wifi. So I will be incommunicado for three days. Therefore, I will wish everybody an enjoyable and safe weekend now. I will leave you with a quote from Marx:

"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend...

Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read."
-Groucho Marx, of course!

Mornin' Sky Man, years ago, when I was hanging out in San Antonio with friends, we were on the main loop around the city in heavy traffic in beautiful spring weather. A couple of kids (late teens) were ahead of us in 2 cars, one in our lane and one immediately to the right, side by side pacing each other. One kid was screwing around, hanging out the the passenger window from the waist up, upright, trying to talk to the kids in the right lane car when the rushing wind caught his eyeglasses ripping them off his face. A zillionth of a second later we heard a CRUNCH under the wheels of my friend's VW Beetle.

Ooooops!

Here's my contribution to Picture Friday, taken last weekend, en route to Rachel NV, on the ET Highway, with other 5th Gen fans!
