Threads can disappear for a number of reasons. Sales threads can disappear because they have:
a) been moved without a redirect (or a quickly expiring redirect), thus making it seem like they've gone 'poof' b) been deleted because they are in violation of the rules c) been deleted because the original poster wanted it removed d) been temporarily removed until Tran can decide what he wants to do with it I think that covers 99% of the cases As for having your threads moved without an infraction, we tend to issue infractions when a thread is posted in an area where it clearly doesn't belong. Such as when the original poster either intentionally puts it in the wrong area or is being lazy and just putting it in 5th gen general -regardless of whether there is a better spot for it elsewhere. However, if it fits where it was posted -but fits better somewhere else, we'll let it slide. That said, if you notice that your threads keep getting moved, you might want to try and put them in a better place before we actually do issue an infraction for "Thread Posted In Improper Forum - Multiple Instances". For future reference, if something is being sold it belongs in one of the sales sections of the site, not a discussion forum.

I apologize for not being able to help you.

I can't speak for the reasons that it got moved, but the original one that I came upon I deleted... for the following reason....
It was reported... and I looked into it. I saw a for sale thread posted in an area that wasn't a for sale area and it was posted by a member, not a vendor... you... If I remember, there were comments about other vendors prices being higher... and that Chevy Mall was cheaper... There are two issues with this.... And I am speaking in generalities with this explanation... I am not saying you did or are doing any of this... I am only explaining why I deleted the first thread that was reported that I saw.... 1.) cutting the throat of our supporting vendors... there are multiple reasons I can see this happening... You truly found a great deal and want to share it with other members... Someone is pissed about some dealings with a vendor of a product so they go out of their way to cut the vendors throat... Someone never stopped to think how it affects the people and sponsorship that keeps this site improving... 2.) Advertising for a non supporting vendor... I've heard of issues with people getting deals with outside vendors and for that they agree to post up information within sites like this... It amounts to free advertising, or redirected advertising fees... If you made a "widget" and paid to advertise it at a fair price and provide great customer support and service during and after the sale as opposed to advertising something and not supporting it after the CC information is exchanged...and someone was trying to undercut you, how would you respond to that...??? Just curious. Again... I am not accusing you of any of this, I am only explaining why I deleted the original posting I looked into... May I ask why you are so adamant about this thread being posted that you have made multiple threads about it...and multiple threads about it being moved or deleted or moderated or whatever is occurring in each case...Call me curious... Edit: As for the one in the coupon thread.... I probably owe you an apology for that one... It was the second one reported and I probably didn't take the time to note where it was located, and just deleted it like I did the first reported one... For that, I do apologize, and I hope the above explanations help... I would also like to point out that apparently Camaro_Corvette has taken the fall for this. I have been offline a lot the last few days spending many hours at my builders shop working hard to get my car finished and back on the road... I haven't been on here much...and I come back to see where I've apparently thrown him under the bus... Camaro_Corvette had nothing to do with the original two posts being deleted... Please direct any further queries to me via Pm or I'll respond to questions here.

Thanks for the explaination. Your right, none of your examples explain me or my intentions. I originally saw a great deal on an email that was sent to me by Chevy Mall. I wanted to pass it along to members here. I've learned so much from members here and gotten great deals here because folks talk about it. Hell, I bought my car from Becky because of this website. It feels good to me to be able to contribute back. I posted my wind restrictor find in the coupon code thread where it obviously belongs because there was a discount code given. Then I, admittedly, posted a second time in a place not specifically meant for those threads, the Convertible thread because I wanted more people to see it. If you want to be black and white, yes its in the wrong place. The convertible thread says something akin to "for all things convertible" or some such, I dont feel like going back to it. I think it could fit there too.
Both threads got removed, so I posted again in the coupon code thread and it got removed within minutes. Now I think I'm being screwed with. I posted in this thread a summary of what happend and it got removed within minutes. Now I really think I'm being screwed with by Mod/Mods on this site, and it becomes the principal of the thing. I get there are vendors here that pay money to advertise their products. The ones I have delt with, with the exception of one, have been spot on. But... Whats more important? Helping members or deleting posts because a vendor complains of a non vendor kicking their ass on a brand new product. The vendors pay the bills but without the members there would be no vendors. Thats the fine line you guys have to walk and try to decide what's right. For the record...I could give a crap about Chevymall, and to the other vendors that are selling the same product, sorry, I meant no harm. I promise I will stop my nonsense if the post gets left in the coupon code thread where it belongs. Thanks again, Glenn |

again, I apologize for not seeing your responses earlier and responding in fashion to them... We all have lives away from Camaro5, and with my car being in the shop for so long, I would like to get her back out before I leave the country for another month... not an excuse or complaint, just what it is... Feel free to pm a mod, me, or any of the others if you need anything. Occasionally it's just a miscommunication issue... Take care...

And in the event that you are wondering where the other thread called "where did my thread go" go, I deleted it. Both threads asked the same question and both are in this feedback section. So, before a 3rd thread is made asking where that one went, I deleted it. No need for multiple threads asking the same question with the same responses.
And another point if I may... Robert hit the nail on the head. 1. Mods don't get paid for what we do here. 2. We try to help keep a fair balance between all members here (which includes vendors) 3. Not everyone is going to be happy with a decision that is made. That's just how it goes. 4. Yes. The site owner charges vendors to advertise here. If he didn't, every Tom, Dick, and Harry from every back yard garage in and out of the US would be advertising here and that could pose a problem. ....wait....hold on. We actually did that. And it caused us a HUGE headache. We had non-licensed parts flying about everywhere. That came to a screeching stop. Now, the only people that can advertise are those who pay...and we can verify that those who pay ARE legit. Much easier and everyone is happier. 5. Yes. The site owner makes money off the vendors. What he does with the money, I don't care. I am just happy to have a place to come to where I can talk to my friends and also gather a MASSIVE amount of wealth of information. Shoot..any question I have can be answered here in a very short time by searching or asking. 6. Posting a coupon code for a non-vendor who is NOT PART OF THE SITE undercuts EVERY PAYING VENDOR here who's trying to make a business for themselves. 7. Posting a coupon code for a non-vendor who is NOT PART OF THE SITE undercuts the site OWNER since the other vendors here who are here trying to make a business for themselves can not make money and will no longer sponsor this site... Do you like deals from our vendors every once in a while? Good...so do I. But, we no longer have them because you sent everyone on this site everywhere else but to OUR PAYING vendors. So, no more deals for you. (that wouldn't be cool, would it?) In essence, you think you are helping out the members. You think that by saving them $30 on a part, the community will better. When, in fact, it (IN MY OPINION) will hinder the community because you are taking away sales from the people who come here to sell legitimately. When the supporting members leave, who's going to give us the rest of the deals we've been getting? ...all because a few people want to post up for others to buy from ebay or some other seller who is not part of this place? Yes, I have a problem with you posting a coupon code to a non-vendor. No. I have not touched ANY OF YOUR THREADS...not once. Yes, I CARE ABOUT THE MEMBERS more than anyone else can think..... But in the long run, and this again is totally in MY opinion, you are doing a disservice to the community by sending the communities money "over seas" to a company who does NOTHING to help this site and/or it's members. My opinion. Read into that last part and think about it. |
