Anyone own or owned a late model wrangler (07+)
The wife really likes these mostly because of how they look and the convertible roof. She loves her 09 escape but always liked jeeps. Just wondering if any of you would recommend for or against one? Only real downfall I see that she will run into (other than possible quality issues) is fuel mileage. Hers escape is a v6 6 speed auto and it's great for what it is. how does the jeep compare to our camaros in fuel?
Any insight is appreciated |

My wife currently drives a 2011 Wrangler Sport Unlimited. The four door convertible with a hard top. We love it. Yes, with her lead foot, the car returns only around 15 mpg. (When I drive it, it averages 18 - go figure!) It is a Jeep. If you are looking for a vehicle with precise steering, great brakes, and perfect fit and finish...look elsewhere. If you don't mind a clunk here, a rattle there, somewhat vague steering and the Jeep ergonomics (much improved in 2011...the interior is actually very nice and easy to use) - get one. It is the only year round convertible out there. I have heard great things about the NEW V6 and transmission for 2012. We look forward to stepping up to the newer model with a year or two.
With the factory steps...there is NO WAY to get a door ding on a Wrangler by anything smaller than a big rig.

I had an '09 Wrangler, had a '99 wrangler before that. Loved them both. But I never got more than 24 highway. It's basically the same mileage I'm getting now.

Get the Jeep, I traded mine in for my Camaro and probably will be buying another Jeep (4-door this time) as a second car.

The New jeeps are nicer and get better Mpgs and have more power. But ya know iver never seen a jeep on the side of the road broke down in my years of driving so they seem kinda reliable just prolly not the best well put together cars on the road.

I don't know about that. I vaguely remember rummaging through the Jeep forums a few years ago and it sounds like they are plagued with problems.

Not really plagues, like any they have issues to look out for. My Brothers 01 GC, which he traded for an 09 CTS, and wishes he hadn't, had few problems, basically climate control (known problem with auto climate control on that gen) and the tires had an isue holding air (probably bent rims). He had around 170k miles on it, He has an 09 CTS now with around 65k (bought in October with around 60k) and it has had an engine miss, leaky sunroof (still unresolved and 2 GM dealerships and Caddilac customer service have been ZERO help), shorted out climate and seat controls on the passenger side because of the leak, a few rattles, a clunking front end, and a freezing Nav unit, THAT I call plagued with problems......

i traded an 02 wrangler sahara for my camaro. had it 10 years and the only problem i had was the woofer blew out the last year i had it. loved that car.
it was my 4th jeep. funny thing is, i get better mileage in the camaro. jeep was in the 17's mpg and the camaro has been 18's avg.
