I never use Boot Camp to run windows... Parallels virtual desktop, or the free VirtualBox software will allow you to run windows as a virtual machine. It works fine for any 2D application. I haven't tried anything 3D. Your best bet is to try to go Windows-free for several months and get used to the Mac versions of the apps. I didn't use a PC @ home for years. Recently I bought a dell All in one because I was depressed I hadn't used any Windows since XP... I still use the mac laptop most of the time because it's more portable and I don't need to do anything PC specific anymore... Sorry your experience was so bad though. But buying new software comes with the territory of buying a new computer with a New OS. I'd never use office 2000 on a windows 7 box... Even though it may run, most people upgrade anyway... There's lots of free ways to get around things if you try hard enough. If you wanted, you could use OpenOffice and access most M$ documents... Don't want to buy a new Photoshop, GIMP is free and works well enough.. etc etc...

I've owned my MacBook for two years now. The learning curve was nonexistent as the pediatrics office I worked for ran Macs as well. It's simply too annoying to have a Mac with the things I require a computer for.

That said, if you work with MS Office every day, you will realize how horribly bad OpenOffice is. It really is not a solution at all, from its own format, to not handling MS formats perfectly, to the different names for stuff and how basic functions work. It just plain sucks. I've installed it by request on a few people's machines because they didn't want to buck up for MS office, every single one said screw it and bought MS Office anyway after having to deal with it.

reading on another site, apple won the slide to unlock battle.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17058508 THANK GOD, I hate that function. I didn't buy a non-apple device to have apple like crap on it. If I didn't have to root or hack to remove it, id take it off my froyo OV. |

Okay, I have owned a MacBook, MacBook pro, iMac, Mac pro, and a MacBook air. And all have been in the last five years. I run illustrator, photoshop, final cut pro, etc. my MacBook pro lasted me three years when I stopped using it, never had a problem and it still works fine! Also have a three year old macbook my wife still uses daily. I was carrying it around a lot and just opted for the air because of size and weight this time. Plus the air basically caught up to my three year old pro anyways? I run these programs for fun, a pro would probably be better if it's your job all day every day though. My point is my air can edit video, photo, and vectors with no problem for what I do. I was a graphic designer and mostly use illustrator, but the video stuff I'm learning and haven't had issues yet with power, maybe hard drive space yes (but I think that just comes with video editing).
2. Never had a Mac crash or get a virus in 5 years - period. Best argument for me! 3. Do not simulate windows unless you have no other choice, it will just frustrate you. 4. Do not install windows as a separate partition, then you will be open to the viruses again. 5. I will never buy another windows computer in its current form! 6. Many tasks are much easier on a Mac once you learn, but it is worth it. 7. Make sure any software is available for Mac that you must have! Most are like office and adobe. 8. These are just my thoughts, what do I know! Just that I am happy with what I have. I could go on, but these are some of the points I thought I would bring up from my experience. You get what you pay for! |

You couldn't pay me to go back to a windows based PC..... My 09 13" MacBook pro has been the least frustrating computing device that I've ever owned.
It just works! You windows fanboys who cling to the notion that your DOS based machines are the most superior products on the planet are just smoking something..... I can't remember the last time I saw the blue screen of death.... Just my two cents, take it or leave it. Sent from my abacus using precise finger movements...... |

neither can I. And I have windows....But seriously. I will likely never own a Mac. Nothing against them other than the price on some. But they don't fit my personal needs.

Camaro CRAZY

Get a MacBook pro. It'll work great with your iPhone 4S and any other Apple products you purchase in the future.
I started off owning an original iPhone when they came out and I always upgraded to the newest iPhone on launch day, 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S. Loved them all. I use to be a diehard Windows fan, but got a job working at a call center for Apple dealing with the iPhone. We used all iMacs at work - was awesome! I got to playing around on the Mac and started to notice how easy it really was to get use to. Things aren't where they are on Windows, but it still makes sense where everything resides. I decided to buy a MacBook Pro 13". I have had this computer for 3 years now and not 1 issue at all. I've seamlessly upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion and no issues there either. Mac is kind of like a Camaro when it comes to a bug wanting things for it. Shortly after buying the MacBook Pro I bought, an AppleTV, another MacBook Pro for my wife, Time Capsule (apple network storage/router), and an iPad. I have everything synced up so when I come home if I've made a change to anything on my phone the second I walk in the door the change is made on my MacBooks. Seamless... As Apple says. I use Photoshop all the time, as I'm sure you know, it works great it's always open on my PC (literally) and I never see a drag moment. If you need any further help hit me up I'd be glad to answer any questions. I'm a network/ systems analyst so I work with computers everyday all day. Lol. Good luck on the search. As others have stated, Apple products are reliable and they hold their value A LOT longer than PCs do. Win. Win. MackMan via Tapatalk
