I'm on it but don't post hardly at all. I usually respond to local radio guys and enter contests. Use it alot to keep up with NFL news, and stuff like that.

Its not just for updates of peoples lives. Its a powerful CS tool. I have had more CS issues resolved faster and more efficiently via twitter than I have sitting on a phone, emailing or live chatting with a CS agent. Just about every large company utilizes this platform for solving CS related issues and I have found it quite helpful. Twitter gets a bad rap because of all the kids that use it to tell people what they are doing every second of the day. Simple to fix that though, dont follow those idiots.

I chuckle when I hear people say things like "minute to minute updates on your life" or "what you had for lunch. It tells me that they have no knowledge of what the site is about.

Social media has become very mainstream and most successful businesses are tapping into this resource. You will also see it mirrored very soon in disaster relief scenarios, public emergency broadcasts, Amber Alerts, and the list goes on.

It is as useful and enjoyable as you make it. That's the beauty of the follow and unfollow button. I would say give it an honest try, follow the right people that match your interest, and give it an honest assessment.

Just my $0.02.
