You get what you pay for. I've supported Apple Computers for two very large corporations over the last sixteen years along with other big brands, IBM, HP and Dell. Macintosh computers are bullet proof. Sure up front they're expensive but you have to consider total cost of ownership. If you do then Macs are actually cheaper!

Mostly applications like photoshop and illustrator maybe a game here and there but nothing extreme that involves online play, but with the occasional use of the internet. I would use my current to browse the internet most of the time. mac would be used more as a tool i guess. but i would like to see if adobe could work something out as well so i dont have to re buy the software for CS4 since you cant operate windows on macs

Going on the assumption that any other computer would fail.

I've used HPs and Dells through my jobs my whole life, I ABUSE them, I am definitely a power user.

I have yet to have one fail on me.

First, you can run windows on a mac. It works quite well.

You need a macbook pro, for sure. An air just doesnt have the processing power, or the hard drive space. Especially for editing.

Got the Macbook Pro 17" a couple of years ago. Not much difference in price most anywhere you go.

I'm not against PC laptops as well, but got the Macbook so I could do iPhone/iPad programming. Can't do xcode on a PC...

I've used both Apple & PC over the years. Heck, I've used TRS-80, Amiga and others as well.

Apple gets points for putting out an excellent quality product.

The issue I've had with Apple over the years is the cost of software. In general, software became obsolete as soon as you did a major OS upgrade. I've used Mac since the Mac Plus.

There have been very few major OS opgrades for the Mac where a large majority of software would go from one to the next without huge issues.

The same problem exists for Windows (and DOS), but really to a lesser degree. For the longest time, you could still run DOS programs on Windows machines. You still can, especially virtually these days, but the native OS for Windows supported DOS from Windows 3.0 through Windows 95/98/ME. Early Windows programs worked on subsequent versions, for the most part.

I have, however gone through several Apple OS upgrades and had to completely dump my entire software library. I still have my Centris 650 in a closet with a box of software only it can run.

I like Macs. I like PC's. I think each has their strong points. My PC is far greater quality than any Mac you can buy...but that's because you can make as good (or as poor) a PC as you want to spend (or not spend) money on.

I own a 13.3 inch MacBook Pro.

Never. Again.

Oh, you had two Dell laptops before this, both of which cost hundreds less than this smaller, less powerful laptop? Well, that version of Office on those obviously won't run on your Mac, you'll need to buy Office for Mac for a gazillion dollars, buy AppleWorks for a trillion dollars and have to completely relearn how to use it, not to mention the fact that the vast majority of Windows-created documents/presentations/spreadsheets won't open/display correctly using it, or install Windows using Boot Camp and run Office off that. Sure, it's annoying as hell having to switch between OS X and Windows, but we'll sell you software so you can run both at the same time for two gazillion dollars. What's wrong? Your MacBook hates running Windows and sometimes flat out refuses to run it even after 3 reboot cycles? No idea what's wrong there. Oh, and welcome to Feeding Management/Records Analysis for Dairy Cattle 630.03, we'll be using the dairy management software PC Dart that runs on Windows ONLY. Eh, you've been doing homework on your MacBook for so long that the stupidly sharp edge of the aluminum chassis has created a permanent dent in your palm?

Never again. Couldn't pay me to own another MacBook. I know I'm in the minority here but Apple products and me obviously just do not get along.

Go mac and don't look back.

I just upgraded my MB pro 15 inch to 8 GB of ram and it'll run programs like a hoss. I have Safari, Itunes, Minecraft, and spotify open right now and I have 5 BG of ram free.
