![]() That concept to me....look old. I guess it's supposed to, right? Chevy heritage and all that...but it looks older than even the current Camaro. I'd hate to see them step...back. ![]() Cool PS work, though.

I wasn't a fan of the 130R myself. Amazing how much better it looks with a less upright greenhouse and no stupid reversed B-pillar.

so is it really because they build cheap cars to look cheap on purpose? or is it because a badass looking car really wont sell?? |

Cruze, Focus, and Elantra are received very well in the market because they look and feel more premium than they actually are for a reasonable price tag.

well the market at 25k doesnt look much better to me. Youre focusing on the wrong part of the story. 20k was just mostly an arbitrary number.

If it looks like an economy car, albeit an attractive one as economy cars go (ala Cruze)...then it must behave like an economy car...designers I'm sure study the psychology of their designs as much as the interactions of shapes an colors... |

This is something that is ingrained in every culture and centuries of conditioning. Society itself collectively agrees on what looks good and what doesn't. Sure individuals may have their own specific taste for something, but even that is shaped by society. Then in turn we naturally charge more for things people want more or can't live without. Diamonds are a perfect example. Humans like shinny shit. A diamond is nothing but a shiny rock and people do all kinds of things to get one. Concrete on the other hand is cheap.

![]() If a manufacturer is going to put a lot of time into a car to make it look exotic or different then every other, it's going to cost A LOT of money. People don't realize that MILLIONS go into simply the design of a car. A concept car itself can cost millions alone. So a manufacturer isn't going to dump millions into a car, and sell it off for a marginal profit. Also, a manufacturer is going to take into consideration whether people are buying the car for looks or whatnot. It's all about market appeal. If a manufacturer see's that a consumer such as yourself likes the look of a car a lot, they're going to try to get you to spend as much as possible within your limits. It makes logical sense if the manufacturer wants to make as much profit as possible. ![]() To sum it up, exotics are "exotic" for a reason. Because they stand out, there's not as many of them. Bring a ferrari down to 30,000 and people will scoop them up all over the place. Is it exotic then? Nope. You're not gonna get exotic looks without the price. Not in a new car at least.

Also, it should be noted. Exotic is just a word for things that don't look normal.
There are plenty of exotic cars that look like ass, but because they are easily seen as different and thus must be expensive you have yourself an exotic car. How much money would it really have cost GM to put in fender vents and real gill cut outs? Prob not much at all and I think we all agree it would look better. If it were so much more expensive people wouldn't be able to do it so easily on there own for couple hundred bucks. But that design detail is probably reserved for the vette.

![]() 1990 Fiero GT prototype. Mid Engined, two seater commuter car. GM killed the car in 1989 because of 'Bad PR and fires' but in reality.. it cut into the Corvette's bottom line. MSRP: about the price of a Chrysler Lebaron. There you have it. Also for comparison: 1988 Fiero GT: ![]()
