Car and Driver Article
The recent Car and Driver that has the ZL1 on the cover (March) has a full article on the '13 GT500. They got to take a ride along on Fords proving grounds. They estimate the BASE price of the '13 GT500 will be $59k. They also estimate it will do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and the 1/4 in 11.7 seconds. I would say all these estimates are right on. Thats a steep price for a base model, you Ford boys better start saving, especially if you want the performance package and track pack.

Car and Driver estimates, hmmm...Lets take a look at how good Car and Driver's estimates really are shall we. Here are some good examples
Car and Driver estimates Camaro ZL1 at 47k........ http://blog.caranddriver.com/2012-ch...-around-47000/ This one Car and Driver estimate the ZL1 at 48k-50K http://2012camarozl1.us/2012_camaro_zl1_reviews.html This is just a two minute search from Car and Driver's estimates on one car. The ZL1... Shows you how good their "estimates" really are, and that they are purely speculating based on speculation on what they think the price will be. Ford has never givin any hint or indication to anyone on what the price will be of the 2013 GT500 and Car and Driver is obviously just guessing. Obviously their guesses are not so good from the information i posted above. I'm sure if i searched longer i could find hundreds of their estimates on other cars that are so off it's not even funny. |

We also heard from everyone how there would be NO WAY in hell the GT500 could be fast around a track. WELL, now we hear that it's faster around the track then the Ford GT... ![]() Seems like everyone's guesses and speculation about traction and performance were WAY off the mark and i expect the same to happen about the price as well... Until then everyone just keep saying, guessing, hoping the Shelby will be 60k base, 70k loaded...

To make things worse those car and driver estimates came in on the low side for the ZL1. So if their estimate for the Shelby proves the same the 2013 price should be well......
![]() Ford also said they benchmarked the performance for the Shelby on the Ford Gt. Chevy benchmarked the Vett GS and 2012 Shelby. The Ford GT was a $150,000 car back in 2005/2006? What was the price of the ZL1 again? Also my point about Car and Driver's estimates is that they are guesses, and obviously they guess way off. Just cause the one example i used (ZL1) they guessed way low doesn't mean they guess low on all cars. It's just a guess. You either come in high or low...My point was they don't know jack about the car's prices, just like we dont either... |

It has some good numbers but it don't hit 200mph, and its numbers are in line with say a M3. Audi TT RS or CTS-V. From the way Ford is talking it looks like the Shelby will be line with the Vipers, GT-R and Z06

Just a curious thought, but what does the Z06 max out at? (going to go search that after I post this lol)
But I'm sure it's very close to 200 mph. Now, what did it cost when it first come out? Would it have truly cost GM that much to make said car achieve 200 mph? Now, why is it so hard to believe that ford isn't going to be able to do so? |

Z06 starts at $75,600K and top speed is 198mph and you know they wish it will hit 200mph, but that cost more of this $$$$$$$$ Plus its only got two seats and is super light, now what would it cost to make a heavier car with four seats and less aero parts hit the magic 200mph???

53,000 base, + 2400 electronics pack, 4000 Performance pack, 2500 track pack, 2000 glass roof, 1900 Recaros, 395 cover. Those are i bet a lot closer to prices than what most are thinking. Why do you guys think so much? It is the same car, just TVS cost over regular Eaton, driveshaft, bigger brembos, and shocks. Even if blower at cost is 800 more, brakes 800 mores DS, 600 more and 800 more for shocks, that's $4000. Plus 48,500 that's 52,500. All the others stuff cars is already there. Don't get how you guys do your math.
