"NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- General Motors ignored a request from Ford Motor Co. and ran a humorous Chevrolet truck ad during the Super Bowl that takes a slap at Ford. The ad shows a group of men who have survived a world- destroying apocalypse, as supposedly predicted by an ancient Mayan calendar, because they all owned Chevrolet Silverado trucks. One asks about the fate of a friend. "Dave didn't drive the longest-lasting, most dependable truck on the road," another man tells him. "Dave drove a Ford.""

Brilliant on Ford's part. GM spends $3.5 million plus production costs on the ad to sell Chevrolet trucks...Ford spends $100 to issue a statement about how 'angry' they are...and they are getting a TON of talk over it all over the news, internet, radio. WIN.

More like free publicity for GM. The overall reaction to Ford's hissyfit on the Internet has been fairly negative. They're looking like nothing more than a bunch of crybabies who love to talk **** about others but can't take it back.

While it may be funny, it's pointless.

If vehicle manufacturers spent more time focusing on themselves, rather than picking on another company or complain about it, the products would be better.

As far as I am concerned, Ford should just keep their mouths shut and keep producing their beastly trucks. Chevy will never have anything close to competing with the SVT Raptor. It's one of a kind. The base F150 easily out does the 1500. I think it's just a down right, better truck. Better design, better performance, ect. Now, when it comes to the duallys, I would take a chevy over the ford, why? Design. I can't stand the Ford's dually front end design.

I think in order to be competitive, Chevy needs to seriously make an aggressive looking truck. Something that has power. Something much like the old SVT Lightning...or at least do something similar to the Raptor.

Ford pulled crap like this in the past. There was a commercial where a Chevy and Ford were side by side at a boat launch. The chevy truck rolled back into the water and sank. Someone watching said something like "That sank fast" and the Ford driver stated, "Like a Rock." using Chevys slogan.

I can see them beings upset when their competitor flat out makes false claims such as it being the longest lasting truck on the road. However I still found it slightly humorous.
