That was more for BCD amusement than anything lol, proves to him GM is not invincible.

Caddy ATS weighs in a little over 3300 lbs. So thats 400 lbs lighter than the 5th gen, and about 100 lbs lighter than the v6 Mustang. I'd say that's pretty significant, seeing as the 6th gen camaro on the same platform could come out weighing even less.

Who cares? If you like the ZL1 then get over your fear of the ford beating it. Not like any of you are going to buy the ford anyway even if it does

This thread has nothing to do with worrying about Ford beating my ZL1. I've been very clear on my position on that. It's a counter to the sea of "How's chevy going to answer Ford" threads that have been poping up lately. I'm already tired of having to come on a Camaro forum day after day to hear how great the GT500 is going to be, it has 650HP, it has a drag tree on it's info screen. It can deliver your first born, buy you a beer, mow your grass, paint your house and so on.

I know it's a nice car and I love the looks ,but I'm tired of hearing all the BS about it on a camaro site. I've learned more about mustangs from this site than any other place on the planet.

Ford has posted profits for 11 quarters straight. I understand your point and it is a good one, but his holds water as well. Saying Ford, *couldn't* answer the zr1 is just naive. They probably won't because of cost. That is unless this becomes a reality

There have been rumors that the development of the 650hp 5.8 was with this car in mind. Until it's confirmed they're just rumors, but it's a real possibility. ZR1 is the king of American cars though and will continue to be until something faster is built. I doubt that challenge will come from Ford first though, it will come from the new Viper.

Car is ugly as balls! The Ford GT was good enough for them to take an evolutionary approach instead of the revolutionary approach to that monstrosity.

The ZR1 is the defacto champion since the Viper is on hiatus. The ACR was top dog, still hasn't been dethrowned.

Very interested to see what comes next for the Viper.

I also doubt seeing Ford getting into that segment.

That is a very sexy concept and I would love to see it in production. I'm not against Ford just tired of the endless sea of 2013 GT500 threads lately ,and by saying "can't" I meant that currently, they can't compete with the ZR1.

I can't wait to see the GT500 on the streets and at the track along with the ZL1 to see how real people run these two great cars.

I was more responding to Blue Maro Demon and his infinitely wise post with the remark about ford not being able to build a competitor. They absolutely could and it's still possible they will. However, Ford has been and still is globalizing their cars, cutting unnecessary costs and pumping out profits, so I think it's unlikely we'll see another Ford supercar in the next year or two. I totally get why you started this thread and I love seeing that commercial on TV.

Ford proved in the 60s they could build world class 2 seater performance cars.

So what two seater sports car from the 60's did Ford build that was so great?

If your talking about a Cobra, they weren't build by ford. The weren't even built in the USA. The funny thing is Carol Shelby tried to get Chevy motors first ,but they wouldn't sell them to him.

Ford later on helped to redesign them ,but they still weren't built by Ford.

Besides that has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
